Default 10AE Discussion Thread

Ok well seems like we're a growing breed here lately, time for our own thread to not whore out the others.

Feel free to post pix/mods/ or just discuss 10AE's

Post up that pic of the badge you put in the other thread. That would be a good intro. On that note. I'm outta here!

it might be the best miata, but it's not the ultimate Miata.

It definitely is the best one though. Makes me hate mine (wanna trade?)

^^ you two roomates?

I love my 10ae but love msm's too, yet to ride in one, Verwah's will prolly be the my first lol

I need to get sideskirts and my fog fixed (in process) and a front lip (maybe GV) to get mine back up to PAR.

First coming is a drop then a bar though. Cosmetics aren't top of my list but i'd like to at least get it up to spec.

some random pix:

look once dropped

Winter mode:

My buddy driving mine w/his girl, he was sold immediately lol

for the price diff you can boost it yourself

MSM's have more rigidity, better suspension, little heavier, 10AE's have a little friendly gear ratio, aren't really any better than any other 99 NB w/6spd and Torsen though other than the anniv. perks (gift set if you're lucky, rareish blue,

I just like how simple and pure the 10AE is. There's no need for more power, it's tons of fun

-- and yeah, I sent him hundreds of emails with awesome Miata photos and even let him carve the canyons in my MSM to torture him. It worked! Now if our neighbours didn't question our sexuality because of the one miata in the garage, there's two

Miata owners are the best Miata salesman

AZKansei, how's it feel different handling wise? I'd think an MSM to handle much better no?

I can't comment on that, as I have Star Specs and H&R race springs.. and we live in downtown Phoenix, you have to drive an hour to find roads that have any curves at all. I'm interested in seeing how the lighter weight feels.

I think a trip to the canyons with both cars and a midway driver swap is in order

Yeah me n Verwah can put it to the test in a couple months when we meet up.

I know how you feel living in Chicago, be happy you have canyons, we don't have shit...

Oh man! Just the thread I have been waiting for!
I have a slew of pics of mine, but here are some of the better ones

And I need to get a better pic of the 10AE badge lol this was the first day I owned the car

I personally think that no miata has the uniqueness of the 10AE.
In south texas at least, theres so few of them, that when you actually do see one, you freak out and point and chase it like a maniac
In its stock form, it completely blows any other stock miata out of the water, except for the MSM's i'd say.
But the Mazda tradition was really carried over well into the 10AE and implemented flawlessly.
The classic yet modern interior has no parallels in my opinion.
I just freakin love my 10AE

I have one good friend in town here in SA that owns a 10AE that she autocrosses regularly that has a built motor, almost ready for turbo.

And i've only seen one other and it was some old old lady driving it with the top down in the middle of December LOL

Really. That is what a stock MSM puts down to the rollers. With about 1000 bucks worth of parts you can have kansei's 200+ though. I'm right there with him, just untested.

I was hoping we could swap for awhile. I need to experience more Miatas. We won't be able to compare handleing though. I've got a straight race set up. double adj coilovers/FM sways/225mm Hankooks/roll bar.

I test drove a 2002 base model a few years ago in Madison. Thats what sold me on the Miata in the first place. The test drive took place mostly in a parking lot with lots of light poles. It was a 5spd though. I'm mostly curious about how your ratios feel. Also, don't forget that for the time being my redline is 700 rpms lower than yours. Will be remedied of course, but not before you drive it.

AFCOzzz

But enough about my ride. What are your plans as of today? Set up geared toward Autocrossing? You got winter tires, do you have high performance summer tires? I know you want to lower it. Are you going to buy new or wait until a good set of TEIN show up used?

the 10ae is one of my favorite miatas .
but once you start to modify it , it loses its unique attraction. eventually ,you'll be left with the badge and blue color. and your 10ae will be no better .
basically , i wouldnt modify one. just like a 93LE.

o and the 99 sport package is the best miata . hands down the fastest.

My first Miata was number #472 off the production line, so it was one of the originals. The 10AE is pretty nice though.
