Sorry if this is the wrong section if it is please move
I have a 94 miata
all power
cruise control
lsd
all black interior
What im confused about is that in my door jam the color code says A1Q
After some research I found out that A1Q is Merlot Mica which was only on the 95 M Edition?
Well, if your door sticker is correct and hasn't been tampered with, you have a 95 and not a 94. If your title says 94...I'd be worried that something is very wrong with the title/vin and I'd go through the car to make sure all the Vin numbers match...including the one on the oil pan. Is the engine bay the same color as the car? You're sure it hasn't been repainted? Something doesn't sound right here.
Vin should say 95, production date was probably 94... It happens a lot that car companies will begin the next model year before that year begins. I would check the vin year though. The 8th digit from the end (10th digit from the front) designates the model year.
Yeah, I didn't think someone would think the production date on the door would be taken as the year on the title/registration...I thought we all knew better.
I just saw the pics, I can't tell what the hell is going on there.
Could be that the quarter panel was replaced with a salvaged part and they just kept the sticker from the junkyard fender. Does the VIN match the one on the firewall?
Or, better yet, does it match the one on the dash? If the VIN on the door jamb is from a 95M it won't match the VIN on the black dash unless they also swapped the VIN plates on the dash.
Can't tell by the picture, but the door jamb's look really orange peeled. Is there evidence of the door sticker being covered up for painting?
Sounds more like something wrong with the title than the car.
Wait, I just re-read your original post.
That's 100% normal - probably your car was made August-Dec 94 so it was sold as a 95.
My Laguna blue was made in September 93 and if you read the literature regarding this color you would see that it was made only in 94 and 95.
You could always pull out a seat and pull up the carpet to see what color it is underneath. If the car has been resprayed and interior-swapped - they may not have color changed the tub under the carpets.
