Talking to a salesman today and he told me in 2006 or 2007 they made a miata le. black with red interior this was a one year thing and it had mesh wheels and polished goodies as he called it.
Can anyone confirm this? I tried to google some info. I found something saying the nc had a red interior option but was it a special thing?
Does this car exist?
most sales man have no idea what they're talking about..
I remember a story some gentleman told me when he visited a honda dealership with a NSX in the show room.
the sales man said the motor was in the back, but it is front wheel drive.
the gentleman asked "so they put a motor in the back, and ran a drive shaft to the front?" then the sales man agreed to his comment. and the gentleman turned and walked away.
Only special edition NC i am aware of is 2006's special edition with a chrome trim around the windshield, it came only in red though, as others have stated, most salesman have no clue what they are talking about
20ae was only avail in europe and its the facelifted model, and only came in the 1.8
Car salesmen....ha. Useless 'tards they be if you have half a clue about cars.
Now, that particular dealership could easily have taken a black NC and had a shop add some bits/new seat covers etc, called it a LE and added $15k to the sticker price. I've seen dealerships do this plenty of times. Too bad it doesn't add to the book value of the car. I once saw a Pontiac dealer add a RKSport body kit, some wheels and a few interior bits to a Solstice and jack the price up by over $20,000.
In the US, 2006 NC LE came in Velocity Red, same as my MSM color. Though most have black interior, there are quite a few with full red interiors as well, which was an option at the time.
In 2006, there were other colors offered with red interior on the 06 LE (black exterior with red interior, as your salesman is saying), however they were not sold in the US. They are available in AUS.
In Japan they made a few special editions, one of them was Black, and IIRC it had a redish interior? Ill have to check my old R&S Books. They also had the BLAZE Eidtion which i really liked.
EDIT: ran a quick search, there was a 2007 Blaze (Purple) with Red interior NC at the TAS show, however it was customized this way, it was not a factory option for NC.
Third (type NC) models
Mazda Roadster 3rd Generation Limited
Mazda Roadster Japan Car of the Year Commemorative Vehicles
Mazda Roadster Blaze Edition
Mazda Roadster Mazda Speed M'z Tune
Mazda Roadster Prestige Edition
Mazda Roadster 20th Anniversary Car
They do ... but not for the US market, I think it hasn't been available for the past two model years. In Canada you can get an NC in Crystal White in both the soft top and PRHT if you want, we didn't even get the Marble White in PRHT!!!
Most salespeople don't know **** about cars... and I sell cars. I know more about most of the products, their history and their heritage than most of my coworkers except for a couple of guys that are the old muscle car nuts.
It's really kind of sad. Though we do have a guy here that might as well be an encyclopedia, we once quizzed him out of the options manual for Chevy trucks. He only missed one question about tow capacity on the 3.08 gearing ratio.
And here we have a 2006 MX-5 3rd Generation LE, #0227 -- Velocity Red with black interior, 6-speed manual. 35K miles on her now. Just picked her up in New Brunswick and drove it back to Manitoba... 2,000 miles. Wonderful!
Originally a USA car, imported in 2008 from Virginia. This is a replacement for my 2006 GL1800 Honda Gold Wing, which I bought in Houston TX with 93 miles on the ODO. Black Beauty now has 69K miles! But time for more wheels under me. hillyb:
