Posted this on Mazdaspeed site and not been on here in a long time either. Saw that you had a Mazdaspeed page so thought I would post this.

I am sad to say that I will soon find out if the insurance company is going to total my Phantom.
On Dec 27 I wrecked my car. I was going to work and it was raining. I was merging on to Alcoa Highway. Most of you who have been to deals gap knows of this road. I was getting up to speed when the car came out from under me. I did 2 or 3 360's then hit a embankment sideways. It then threw me around into a ditch.

The amazing part is I didn't get hurt to bad but it was a one car accident. That is a very heavy traffic road and for it being only me wrecking is just crazy. The place I had it taken too said yesterday it would cost 8K to fix it up. I am just waiting for the insurance company to total it out. I am really going to miss having a Speed. I really enjoyed putting the 98K miles on it and looking forward to my new adventure in my next Miata if they scrap this one.

Since this post I have a 2011 PRHT Limited Edition Sparkling Black Mica. It only has 180 miles on it and am loving it so far. I have a Flying Miata exhaust coming in tomorrow. I will have to get some pics soon.

Not the happiest Miata story I've ever read, that's for sure. Just good that you're okay and things didn't go considerably worse on that road.

If $8k will total a Mazdaspeed these days, they're worth a good deal less than I thought. Good luck to ya'!

that sucks. as a msm owner I would literally Cry if my miata was totaled.
i hate to say but theres a good chance they will total it if the appraiser knows what he is doing. But you never know. as long as the frame is straight theres still a good chance they will fix it.
I had a guy back over my hood at a light and it should have totalled my miata the guy doing the initial appraisal guessed around 4k in damage. I think the final price to have it repaired was 8600 + almost 3k in rental car...

They ended up totallying it since the repairs was going to cost 8K. I was really surprised with what they gave me for it though. I almost got 12K for it crazy!!!! Not to bad since I bought the car in March of 05 and paid 20K and put 98K miles on it. I have been happy with the new one I bought.

from what i can see from the pictures:
it has the corksport FMIC kit. that would go fora pretty penny
it also has slotted rotors,
looks like either a blitz electronic boost controller or turbo timer
fm's bpv GFB it looks like
and an exhaust.

yeah a rare car like these you should always buy back. thats my plan... those headlights are 500+ each new. and you can get some good cash like 200-300 each from those alone. not counting the 6 speed. the torsen rear end. the sport brakes. the front lip (looks still good) and the rear lip. the turbo kit. the engine and the interior and top would probably sell immediately and 3 out of 4 of the racing harts are good and people are always looking for a replacement for one they curbed.

and then when you are done and parted out everything that anyone wants take it to a scrap metal yard and probably get 400-500 more for metal.

if somone in TN has a miata or just some cash laying around and they can pick it up for a good price, they could EASILY either MSM swap and still make money or just double/triple money into it.

Holly cow yep that is Phantom. I have the full Flying Miata exhaust on it and most of the intake. I also have a turbo timer on it too. It does have the corksport FMIC kit. I did the brakes last year with slotted rotors and have the SS brake lines too.
