The center caps on the BBS rims have been known to come off. Either falling off or borrowed and not returned. Has anyone seen a method of locking the caps to the rims? How about a anti-theft screw tapped in the rim thought the sap?
If you find yourself in a sketchy area, you can certainly remove the caps and stash them in the trunk.
Putting self-tapping screws through them will, well...yuck.
The heads on the anti-theft screws are small. I have paint from Germany that should match the caps. At $150 a piece at least if you can find them its very tempting for them to be snagged. I presently leave them off.
Other manufactures use a anti-theft screw. I was thinking of a screw with a tapered head and machine a taper in the hole on the cap. I think the head of the screw is less than 1/4 -3/8.
It would be nice to be able to secure them from theft. I use a dab of RTV silicone when putting them back on so at least they do not fall off.
When I first got the car, one of the caps passed me up when I came to a quick stop so this helps keep that from happening again.
