No problem, you should be able to just go down to your local mazda dealer and...

Good luck finding a new one. I would try and get in contact with someone in japan as it seems someone is always parting one out. Should not be that hard to get considering it is not one of the most desirable pieces from the car.

Damn

Well, at least you can swap the opener from the other, probably not as well used passenger side door over to the driver door. Then I suppose just use a regular Mazda opener as a temporary fix for the passenger side door.

The older KG Works openers were similar to the M2 openers, just not as nicely shaped. The opener on the KG Works opener was machined aluminum. The newer KG Works openers I beleive are chromed plastic.

I've seen that happen before. There was a set on YJ not too long ago with the same exact problem. If you had that you'd be whole again. Did you catch something on it when getting in or out? That is a weak spot. You could have it repaired but it is not simple. Alternatives are to replace it with Nakamae aluminum handles or AeroDramatics. I prefer the M2 shape myself but they are pricey and hard to come by. Good luck!

well unless Andy has bought an M2-1001 to add to his 1002, I'm guessing that is a library picture ....

as Kyle said this seems to be a major problem with the M2 cast door pulls ..... on every set I have seen ( used ) on JYA at least one of the pair has a stress/shear crack ..... only on the two sets of NOS ones I have seen for sale have been perfect and they went for $500 - $700 a set

M2 are much nicer design IMO but you may preserve the ones in your 1002 by replacing with a set of K G Works ones

Yep, library picture. Thats probably the reason my 1002 came from Japan with standard pulls. At the moment, I'm not interested in keeping the 1002, so tracking down suitable door handles can be the job of the next owner.

Might be nicer looking, but obviously lousy manufacturing quality.

fair enough .... probably jointly due to too much leverage force going through too small a section of alloy that isn't strong enough ?

unlike the OEM plastic pulls on the standard cars these ( on only 300 / 1001's , 100 / 1002's and 40 / Tokyo models + a few for spares stock ) probbaly didn't see hundreds of hours of product testing due to the limited numbers !!!
