Just use the stock seat belt.
I went to the event at Horse thief several months ago. I had the Green NA that set FTD. (well aside from one of the instructors who had a Z06 on r-comps.)

Very highly NOT recommended. In the event of a crash you are much more likely to have spinal injuries with a 4/5/6 point that doesn't go through a seat, and thus has nothing keeping the belts from compressing your spine. Everything that I have been told is that you are safer with the stock belts if you have a sock seat. Though for tight, low speed courses I did use a 5-point to hold myself in place a while back before I got a proper seat.

On a side note, if the cars that are registered are actually coming, this is going to be a good event to bring a camera to. "Supercharged 2008 R 8 GT" NSX, few new M3's, A Jag that a first glance I read as XKR... But not. Also surprisingly my first time at streets. I am expecting to be in the 34-35 range, and optimistically hoping for 30-31. It should be doable if my engine decides to make any power at all, and my Year old alignment is anywhere close to what I left it at. (I really need to find a new place where I can actually tinker with my car again. I got spoiled when I worked at a shop up North.)
I say 134-35 is all-season tire range.., I'm using ZE912s. Registration list is full, I'm on the waiting list. No worries though, either this or I'll be wrenching on the Miata this weekend. Got a radiator to test fit, but also a leak to figure out.

Have fun this weekend guys!

does anyone know if it's possible to run a harness with the stock seats?

Damn, I'm really thinking about going but last time I went on big willow, my car was puffing out smoke after every run so I think I am going to have to sit out of this one.

What group did you guyhs all sign up for? I went with intermediate
I went inter because I don't like completely open passing in a car without a cage, and especially when I am skeptical about the skill level of the other drivers. I don't like people dive bombing me into a corner when my intentions are to leave a passing lane wide open on corner exit.

But depending on the number of people in each run group, and what group the other people in my class are in, I might see if moving to advanced is possible.

Hmmm I thought the spine compression was do to improper harness mounting, as long as the mounting point is perpendicular to the seat. When you used it for tighter courses did it feel like it held you in better?
If you can get the anchor point up to or close to shoulder height it might be fine. But without the seat holding it up, if the anchors are too low it will pull down during rapid deceleration. But yes, it did hold me in better when I used it for slow speed courses. Though a seat by itself works even better.

I say 134-35 is all-season tire range..
I like to set my lap time goals for first times at a track on the easier side. That way when I make it, I feel better about it. In my head my real goal is 1:30, but I don't know if I'll make it.

Hey I wonder how many of you guys going to track with a stock seat?

I am debating if I should drive the Rx8 or the miata......I tried to put my zeta 3 into the low max LF mount but it sits too high, if I go with the miata, I will have to drive with stock seat.....

use your knee to stay in place
While it works, there are tracks that are just brutal on the knee, like big willow.
Between T8, T9 and especially T2, I was finishing days at big willow with a really sore and swolen left knee to the point that an ice pack was needed.
Plus, you know how much better the feedback from the car is when you have the racing seat and harness set up.
The stock seat also cuts into your shoulder blades.

Sidus, while this isn't likely to happen before the first event, I can help you with lowering your seat mounting considerably.
Have a look at my website to see some of the work I've done on miatas.

You can also fix some heat reflector under, I'Ve seen it in many racing applications. . Some are very light. I know you are looking for lightness.
I prob contact you moti for seat mounting options. I have 2 cobra imolas on the way.

Nahh, we're talking about stuff that happened like 10 years ago...
Lenny and I know each other a long time now, and have been playing together at the track for about that long.
