Anyone have a good alternator to fit a 1.6L (1991)? My bearings are starting to go.

Hey everyone, up in Big Lake, MN working on a rather large project... 7 years to be exact! Just got done doing a full tri stage Velocity Red Mica on her and now the final fitting of a bunch of parts begins... Flyin Miata intercooler kit will be here tomorrow and a bunch of other goodies as well!

Here are some pics:

It is all apart again trying to get all the little crap put back in the car and fixing things that I don't like about the car.

If anyone is in the area and wants to stop by feel free to do so.

Cheers,

Adam

Thanks guys, I have a ton of work to do yet and am not sure if it will be ready for April... Still have to install the Flyin Miata big brake kit, "create" my 3" downpipe, and then bring it down to DB Performance and have the darn thing tuned with the new AEM ECU in it so we are a ways out for sure! I keep finding all these little parts that I need and have to stop and move on to the next thing while I am waiting for parts to come in... Ahh the joys of rebuilding a car from pretty close to nothing!

If you guys want to see more pics I have about 70 pics of parts of the project here as well:

http://www.miataclubmn.com/forum/ind...g2_itemId=6544

I can't find my pics of the body on it's side outside my garage while we were messing around with the idea of powdercoating the subframes and it made changing the shocks and bushings really easy too.

Cheers,

Adam

Bump for those interested in the STS workshop this Saturday:

http://www.mnautox.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13243

If you plan on AutoXing your Miata, even if you are running a different class, it sounds like there will be lots of info on good car set up.

Hey Adam777, if you go and you see that guy that goes by "the tick" otherwise known as John Mensch tell him Adam Bauer says hello! I have not seen that guy forever, he is the nutcase that got me started roadracing motorcycles back in the mid nineties... Just saw his name on the post and I will not be around to run down there.

Palmer, as for picking a date, I don't know how serious you are about it, but I am all for picking something way far out so that we can have the most people plan for it.

Just throwing them out there:

Saturday May 8
Saturday May 22

Thoughts?

Yeah, pretty much any day will work this far ahead.

Late May sounds good from a weather standpoint.

I'll send out a few emails about the route.

I also just logged into the MNmiata club forum for the first time.

It would appear that there is a sub forum for chatting about golf.

Anyway...

Yeah, I plan on going to a few events with them and see what it is like now. It was a fun group of people when I was a member before and they do alot of drives and get togethers so it is fun to see all the Miata's together.

We should get a group of us to show up for one of their weeknight drives and see what goes on.

I too am not impressed with golfing, what a waste of time and money!

There is the MN mazda people too, and they meet at Porky's on Wed. nights. I'm going to hit that up as well, see what it's all about.

In the spring? Let me know when you go up there, I'll head over also. I want to get my 14" RPF1s mounted up first.

If you can attract a fair crowd, I will get arbumreaf and mazdamitch33 to cruise out there as well. It would be worth it to meet lots of people.

I don't know, any input is useful.

I organized one for the Saab club I'm in, but there was lots of dirt roads for rally action.

I guess I'm wondering a few things...

-How many miles do people want to put on?
-Central meeting area?
-Break for lunch?
-Morning only?

I know weekend days are quick to fill, so any input is useful.

There are some killer roads down by lake city, but that's south of the cities.

A western Wisconsin meeting location would be nice.. Some guys local to my area went on a cruise last Halloween and we found some steller country roads out there.

Actually, the WI county roads in the Mississippi River valley are epic - I do a lot of motorcycle riding in the area between Bay City and Trepaleau. It's only about an hours drive from St. Paul, and you can pretty much drive on empty winding roads all day.

Here's a vid one of the mnautox guys made a couple summers ago (the music is pretty cheesy, and the footage is sped up in places, but you get the idea of the awesomeness of the roads - and they're not even best I've been on in the area):

http://videos.streetfire.net/video/R...007_125221.htm

No cops, very little other traffic - but you do have to look out for wildlife and farm equipment. Also, the surface is not well suited to slammage.

I vote for the Lake City/Western Wisconsin area. Not to far from the Twin Cities and hopefully some of the WI folks in this thread could make it.

Ad for the other stuff:

-How many miles do people want to put on?
I am open. I say we make it a nice long one.

-Central meeting area?
Somewhere near the area, ie Prescott/Hastings area if we have the route there

-Break for lunch?
-Morning only?
I am up for a later morning meet up, maybe 10 with lunch halfway through, then more driving.

I am up for whatever though. If it is just morning, that is fine too. But, I'm def up for a few miles as I don't get too many chances to put miles on the car.

I will have to see what plays out when its closer to the date. My NB may be getting repainted by that time so it could be down, and zchaput needs to put an exhaust (...more then a turndown) on his NA before I will go that far in it again

If you folks were going to run through somewhere like Nelson WI we could just meet there, and carry on from that point and eventually branch off. There is a really good rib/pulled pork place http://jandjbbq.com/ there, as well as a really good (from what I hear) pizza place http://www.nelsonstonebarn.com/ (open 5pm-9, and the owners have a few 924 Porsche's).

According to mapquest thats almost two hours from minneapolis, so it may be too far.

Have any idea where "western wi" is to you?

I like the preliminary planning going on in here. I also like the idea of a western WI cruise. I would definitely go out of my way a couple of hours for a nice day long cruise with all of you. I will modify adam's list for a bit of my own input.

-How many miles do people want to put on?
I don't mind going the distance. I would make it an all day affair since I am at least four hours away from the Twin Cities anyway.

-Central meeting area?
It seems to me the best roads for back-country driving are in the Wabasha area. This place has the best hills and the roads twist quite a bit. It seems if you go much further north, the roads straighten out.

-Break for lunch?
-Morning only?
Sure! this is going to be a whle day event for me to come four hours out of my way, so lets grab lunch/dinner.

Too bad you guys are so far from the south west wisconsin roads. They are way better. The cruise I took with the Madison guys last fall was amazing. Best part was that all the roads meet up. Nothing was straight. We carved quite an interesting path through the hills.
