Hey all, pleasure to make your acquaintance.
I have put on a couple driving meets with my MR2 brethren on the backroads west of Madison, and driven them many times with my fiance' on Sunday drives. They are always a great time. Between elevation changes and the number of 25-45mph corners, the roads west of town never cease to please. Arbumreaf nailed it when he said head west on Mineral Point Rd, and start getting lost around Hwy. J. From there just drive and look for side roads that look like they have potential. There are only a select few roads that I try to repeat everytime I'm out there. Other than those few, I still get lost every time. A good rule of thumb is to head for hills, and when you stop seeing them, head back on a different road. Anyway, I put 30 miles on the '90 -> '96 swap today, and so far all systems are go. I'd love to roll with y'all (if you'll have me, of course;-)). I'm down with the 31st, noon to 1:00 sounds great. My fiance works, so will not be able to join. Another friend of mine with a gorgeous 10th anniversary edition will be at a wedding, and doubts he'll be able to make it. There's one more person from milwaukee I'd like to invite, as he's my MR2 meet mastah cohort and loves driving west of Madison and all things automotive, but he drives a MR2. If no one objects to that, I'll give him a jingle. That's all I have for you right now. I'll shut up for a minute. I just get so excited talking cars with people who understand.... -Scott |

Whoohoo! I'm glad you can make it, and YES! if you have homies that want to join us, tell them to they are welcome to do so. I think we can all agree a badass Mr. Two is welcome amongst us roadsters. More is merrier. The Mineral Point Rd starting point sounds awesome to me. Lets do it. I suppose those of you familiar with Madison could choose a start/meet location that would be easy for those coming from out of town to find. Perhaps a diner off the highway or something?
Anyone with ideas, just let them happen here. Good to have you on board Scott. |

sounds great....Let me think of a meeting spot and then someone else can plan the drive.
1. Just off of Mineral Point to the west is a target with a large lot that would be easy to meet in the back of the lot. 2. a few exits past have some dining options like a automotive restaurant Quaker steak and lube if people prefer lunch or whatever. I'll also see if a few Milwaukee mazda folks i know want to join also. |

Good, The lunch meet at that steak place sounds good. I am going to be mighty hungry.
I already have a route planned. I will make a Google map image of it and post it as a general reference. This is going to be fun. These roads look very Miata friendly. |

I have a picture of a potential route drawn up. I would like to post it just for the sake of adding some content to this thread. It illustrates the cardinal direction we will be heading. I cannot, however, preform media hosting from the work computer. Could I email it to you Ian, and have you post it? Otherwise I can post it later tonight.

Thanks for the spiffy map Ian. I would say the only change I would make is the exclusion of the Target location. We could just meet and eat at the Quaker Steak and Lube, then hit the road from there.

Yeah, that would be a pretty long drive for you to get here only to drive another two hours in the boonies. But, we should have a decent turnout. I have been checking out the route with the street view and the roads are narrow, winding, and they vary in elevation quite a bit. In short, this is going to be an effing awesome drive! Fun Fun!
I am not opposed to just getting lost out there either. If we see cool roads, we should take them. I have GPS to get us back safe. |

Yup fun roads out there... it's pretty hard to get lost, but then again I know the area fairly well. |
