I think my fuel pump died.can anyone come help me figure this out tomorrow after 3:30pm? Does anyone have a spare pump? I'm currently stuck in Mist, OR waiting for a tow....been here 2+ hrs.

Car turns over and sputters, can't hear pump prime when turning key to ACC. Main relay seems OK.

Do you have the diagnostic box and a paperclip like NA owners should?

Tow truck finally showed up...3.5 hrs later. I had NO signal where I was

I thought of the jumper trick, but my Diagnostics box doesn't have pin locations and I couldn't get on the web to find out. When I get home I'll look more into it for the NBs.

Ed- what about Sat afternoon?

Nvm....might not get to working on the car over the weekend. Might have to wait until sometime during the week.

and now I can't remember if the CEL was illuminating when the key was on.

checked- CEL comes on. So it's not the green relay.

Im so stressed, I'm missing another nights sleep....yay.

I verified the CEL comes on- meaning its not a main relay failure. I just went down and jumped the GND and FP slots in the diag box. It bypassed the fuel pump relay, but the pump did not prime, meaning that relay is OK.

Its definitely looking like the pump itself. I can't say I've changed out one of these before. I guess I'll do a fuel filter at the same time..its been awhile...I think.

The pump is a super easy swap. My spare pump is likely on the way out but would be something you can drive on. Unfortunately I'm not available til Sunday/Monday. But if you wanted to come get the pump you can.

Good luck Mike.

Eh, If I'm going to do the work, I don't want to worry about it being a problem anytime soon. Would be nice if there was a local place to get a Walbro 190 or a Deachwerks pump.

Does AR not have them?

FWIW, the noise of the 255 in my car has been a complete non-issue. With the engine running I can't even really hear the pump, and I don't have a loud exhaust (big magnaflow muffler)

AR can get either one, walbros possibly faster, but DW will show up to your house just as fast as AR I'd think.

Just called them to see. They only have the compact DW for some Subaru applications. They have the Walbro 255, but I don't want that loud thing. Thanks for the suggestion though!

I genuinely do not understand the complaints about the walbro 255 noise. nope. I've had two in my car and I seriously don't even notice it.

Aren't those the ones that overpower the fpr in the NBs anyways?

If you tune for it, it's fine, but I think I've read it will richen up areas, so where as you're usually free to swap pump for pump without any tuning, 225 requires tuning.

My car hit the wall hard after T16 and is being disassembled by Josh, and myself when I can get over there. We are hoping the motor survived. Front was destroyed. May have dropped a wheel off the concrete curb after the turn, snapping into the wall on the inside.
