I know it is probably good for learning. If I can't drive well with crappy tires I won't be able to drive any better with good tires, but these things are so pathetic.

Those do look rough :/ You know.. the star specs recently came out in 14 inch... or I'm sure you could snag azenis' if there are any of the old style still around.

I'd be very happy with a set of the old Azenis, my budget is just so tight, but we'll see.

Also throwing it out there, the sunday after the track day Nial mentioned is a PCA Auto-X (June 20th). I'll be out there driving a friend's 99 if anyone else wants to join us for some fun.

ORP is a MUST do! Ran it 4 times last year.

The PCA is a good introduction to that track with different run groups. When you feel confident enough check out Palatov for ORP. They run only 2 run groups with 30 minute sessions. You can get 3-3 1/2 hours of track time in for $200. That's about double the track time you get with the PCA. Passing only with point by but you can point someone by anywhere on the track. Car group is limited to only 20 cars so there is plenty of open track. 2nd group is motorcycles.

mmm....sounds juicy.

btw. finally rallyx'd in an appropriate vehicle. '05 WRX with exhaust mods and a blown suspension. Nice to be in a vehicle with power but blown suspension notwithstanding Subaru's AWD = FWD; the front end loves to plow on corner entry.

Eddie,

Will be interesting to hear your issue with them and/or the track days they run. I ran with them 3 times last year and never had a complaint or hassle. Might not want to do other business with them but for advanced/intermediate drivers the track days seem like a good deal.

It's certainly not for beginner/intermediate drivers with the looser passing rules and more difficult track.

He could have been referring to the fact this club is oriented towards experienced drivers. (Aka not me). I'm just 19 and getting my feet wet in this whole tracking deal.

Haha.. flipping through an old photobucket account. Dug up some fun things.

I got this Mk2 Jetta when I was 13. I was tired of fwd before I even got my license. Held on to it for a few months after I bought the miata. Things I did to it: Tokico Illumina's, H&R race, Eibach Sways, Single Round euro front end conversion, BBS RAs, GLI 16v front lip, GlI rear spoiler, Hella Fogs, stereo blah blah. It was slow but meticulously clean.

And one random pic of Link's miata and a buddy's e30 at an autox.

You're not short. You just have a lower center of gravity

edit: Nial, do you know when the HPDE day is at PIR? I checked motorsportsreg.com but it's kinda confusing since I'm not sure what to look for
