Had fun with Nial and Mike last night. Really glad we had three guys, Nial gave me just the bump in the rear I needed.

It was interesting comparing how the two cars got around with open vs. vlsd. Would have love to see some fresh snows on the BRG.

I'm not sure how much the vlsd actually does. I think it works in a straight line (no one tire fire) but not so much around corners (inside wheel will really spin on wet ground). Fresh snows would be sweet but I'm not mad at the $200 set I bought 4 years ago with those Mazda steelies.

Looks like I'm the new owner of some Avanti Racing Storms in 15x9. Need to get up towards Seattle to pick them up and buy tires. Can't get my self to actually buy Federal RS-RR and RS3's are now discountinued as far as I know.

What are Nials faves? Wheels? Tires?
Yes I sold my wheels and tires to the guy on MOPO on FB with the white club sort. I was banking on getting the Kosei k8r wheels in 9" but are discontinued… along with rs3's. Kinda settled on the Avantis but am overall happy with them. Paid for them but stil need to find time to pick them up up by Seattle.

Nah, I went with 225's. Those 245's are way beyond my driving/ power levels… at least I think so. Plus, wouldn't that be too much tire for my billies?

I too bought Chinesium wheels today.

Only 6.5" wide so I guess My program won't be competitive this year

Putting together a winter setup for the Yota next.

I should go back to 195s on the Miata, however. Car has too much grip currently.

Very serious. I haven't come across a car that can match my pace through 10/11 on 205s and x8 and I only foresee myself adding another set of 15x8s to the collection in the future.

Now I can understand the guys adding huge rubber when the power justifies it for hooking up.

Makes sense. It's the whole combination of parts, aero and being so familiar with the car I imagine. I'm adding big tires to make up for my lack of… everything lol.

Don't get me wrong.. I'd probably try a x9 if there was something out there I liked but from the little I've experienced I just don't love the way a Miata feels on something that wide. I'm weird.

Honestly, I'm after the looks. I like how a 9" and 225's fill the wheel wells. I'm not willing to get a low offset 8" to get the same look.

Eddie swears by this as well, hence his fairly sunken Volks. Blah blah scrub radius blah blah something.

X8 with 205 is a lot of fun, I never went above that even with 240+ who and it was always good fun.

About to leave Tampa airport, we've been here since Friday on a whirlwind visit. 3 days in Austin before this, checking out another opportunity. Did and saw a lot, the doc here Dr. Thomas Su and his wife were excellent hosts. We gave an official, YES. So my wife is joining his practice sometime this year and we hope to move down here, around summer when our 7 and 11 year old kids are out of school. It's quite pretty here and we're excited.

I'll save the sappy, I'll miss you all stuff for later.

Defintely, lol.
There's a lot of reasons why we picked here over Austin, but mainly we really didn't know about Tampa and sort of had this assumption of either angry, redneck, Florida man, religious nuts, backwoods, grey hair, dirty behind the times, no good food or Cuban/Latin American 3rd world. It's neither. Are there bad areas? Yep. If people spent time here (twice for us) and really toured around here, St. Pete, beaches, like we have, I think a lot of people would see why we chose it. It'll be an even hotter city in the next 5-10 years, mark my word.
