Probably a janky wiring harness. Or something going on in the ECU

Two things I'd rather it not be :/

Another strange observation- Swapped a COP back into the 2/3 one, car fired up fine, drove fine. Went to the gas station and while the car was off, but the key in the ON position, the CEL started flashing. I know it flashes when running under a severe misfire situation (as in your dumping raw fuel into the cat...you need to pull the fuck over). But I can't say I'd understand why it would flash when the car wasn't running/not getting any input from a running engine to determine a severe misfire.

Sorry that the COPs were not the simple fix we were hoping for.

Not quite sure what you're asking. As in what series of events triggers a CEL? Right now/up until now, it was the random loss of ignition to the cyl. 2/3 COP.

Oh no, the opportunity has been extremely helpful, please don't be/feel sorry!

After the oddity earlier, I swapped their locations, and the car fired right up and I hit the road to Jenn's place. All has been running fine since....and the CEL has gone back into hiding. However, at one point the airbag light started flashing, and a couple times on acceleration, the speedometer seemed to lag/then jump up. I'm starting to suspect an alternator/system voltage issue....fun. I can't say I've experienced the joys of dealing with OBD-II in a long time....something the '02 didn't have.

The CEL is programmed to turn on via settings in the hydra. There will only be one or two that could possibly turn it on if the engine is off. That'll really narrow it down for you.

You may be on to something with the voltage issue though, you can usually get the battery and alternator checked at any parts store for free.

I believe this is a stock ECU MSM. Might be wrong though. This isn't the grey car.

Grey car has been retired from my ownership :/

Well, after the last coil-swappage and driving around a couple of days, all has been normal so far. Also did find the signal line to the MBC was toast, and fixed it....slightly better boost control now.

Since Mike never posts... grey car (hippo) had an unfortunate last year. Some idiot in a Leaf hit and ran and caused a decent bit of damage and after she (the car) had already had a really bad collision with a deer late one night, it was just too much to fix. The miles were really getting up there and it seems like she was cursed. She's not dead though, just sold locally to someone who is going to really make her or her parts into something very, very fun.

The 10 day forecast makes next week look a little drier than this. I think it's just Ben, Kevin and myself registered so far. Any other Miatas coming out?

Is Richard around anymore?

I was unsure if I would make this one due to a sprained ankle but it's shaping up.
