Thanks! If I could I'd make it out to the canyon run you guys got planned. Wouldn't mind meeting other miata peeps. I may come back out this summer. Me and a few friends are planning a trip to salt river. |

Gentlemen, I'll be moving to Phoenix (for work) in June. As of now, I'm looking at places in Chandler and South-eastern Tempe. I look forward to meeting a bunch of you, and perhaps persuading you to work on my car in exchange for beer (and vice versa). I'm sure I'll be posting in here more after I get settled.

well thats good to hear. I'll be making a trip out the first weekend in May, but I highly doubt I'll have any time for anything fun (and my father wants to come with me, hah). Cant wait to see the area.

The last two fellows that moved to greater Phoenix from the northeast discovered after about a year or so that they absolutely hated living in the southwest and bolted.

Well today was no better. I was traveling in gilbert today and I heard a huge "POP" my alternator/waterpump belt broke in wich f'd up my other belt. I had to drive a mile coast a little home four times. I tore the mechanic a new asshole on the phone. When I had my waterpump. Timing belt. Cam seals and the belts where supposed to be done when the engine was tore down. I ended up doing it today myself. Another note the top diff bolt is a 23 not a 24 like the manual says. I ended up buying a 23-24 socket. I also run distilled water and water wetter anyone else running water wetter?

I absolutely hate snow, hate the cold, and hate the rude/smug attitude of the people that live here. There's no guarantee that I'll love Phoenix either, but its an opportunity, and I might as well check it out. Please tell me you have some decent craft breweries, or at least some places with a good selection on tap... |

Four peaks is ok and there are a number of other small breweries. As for golf, there are some great private and semi-private courses but we also have a number of very nice public courses where the greens fees are reasonable. One thing to remember, your first summer will be awful, it just will, but if you tough it through and enjoy the winter the next one won't be so bad.
Its a pretty nice place as long you realize that instead of dealing with six months cold and snow for three nice non humid months, you are trading 3 months of searing heat for 9 months between 50 and 85 degrees. Also 85 here feels like 70-75 back east. If you want to hit the links when you get down here let me know. It's been a while since I have had anyone to play with. |

Will do. I'm looking for a private course to join, but it seems that golf is just about the only thing thats more expensive there than here. Semi-private may be the way to go... and Red Mountain Ranch CC seems nice.
Anyhow, cant wait to finally have flat roads. The northeast is not kind on mod-slammed miatas. |

Some courses i frequent a lot. Kierland, Really really nice. 4-6 times a year. very very expensive but it's all about who you know. Silverleaf. Nice green course again it's who you know. dc ranch. very nice. ocotillo lakes. 1-2 a month. Bring a lot of golf balls the course is built mostly on islands. Lonetree golf club, I golf here everyweek unless i catch a deal on another location. We also have one of the best driving ranges in the usa with automatic loading balls so you can keep your thought on the game and not balancing the balls on a stick. The place is called crackerjax it's in north scottsdale. Here is the link. Nothing like hitting golfballs at night. I have golfed at every golf club in scottsdale, Gilbert, Chandler, Queen creek-santan. I can review you the typical prices and good practice courses. Slowsilver you golf, That's cool as hell to see a women golf. Rare Here is the link http://www.crackerjax.com/range.shtml A lot of people don't realise that the Na* miata's trunk was built to hold golfclubs that's the reason for the odd shape in the miata's trunk on the driverside. I also play tennis but i have and extremely hardtime finding a partner to play tennis with here in az* |

lol, thanks for the tips. For me, balancing a ball on a tee isn't all that difficult
I'm looking at Red Mountain Ranch CC. I'd love to join Phoenix or Arizona CC, but they still have ridiculous initiation fees. I'm a member of a private course here, but they've all long since removed their initiation fees... Anyway, any decent car meets/shows to look forward to? I've seen mention of the Pavilions on numerous forums, but it seems like a rice-fest to me... |

Also in Tempe is T's Liquor and Convenience, it's a few miles down the road. Great selection as well, a little pricier but great nonetheless. As for local microbrews, there is also Numbus Brewery in Tucson. Try Old Monkey Shine, I used to enjoy this brew but haven't had it for a while, as well as the Oatmeal Stout. It seems like last time I had Old Monkey Shine it wasn't as good as it had been in the past, but then I could have got an off batch. I only know of one decent pub (but I am sure there are many more) and that's that Irish pub we used to drive to after In N Out (Darcy Mcgees) at Tempe Town Marketplace. As far as other bars with good selections, I don't know. I prefer drinking alone at home in the dark with my Xbox because I don't have to worry about wrapping my car around a person. I am a winner. |
