I don't have bad days

So after about a year and a half of constant debating in my head about what would make my ideal daily driver, I finally took the plunge and bought something. My idea was to have something fast, good on gas, reliable, fun to drive, and 16k or less. I also did not want something that I would have to modify much. Right now my current daily driver is a 96 Jetta that I picked up about a year ago for 1500.00. I have put about 15k on it since, it now has about 155k on the clock. Its not an enjoyable car to drive, but it does run. My new job that I recently started is a position as a Network Engineer. I travel everyday to clients around CT and rarely step foot in the office. I am trying to prevent being forced to drive one of my Miatas in the winter in the event of my Jetta taking a shitter.
I came really really close to buying a used RX8 and a WRX Wagon. However, there were certain things that turned me off about each. RX8 - PROS: Awesome interior, great driver feed back, Miata like agility. CONS: Bad Gas mileage, reliability from user feedback is questionable for 04 and 05's. WRX Wagon - PROS: Very practicle, decently quick stock. CONS: Not really fun to drive, understeers too much for my liking, used car prices are higher than expected (I live in New England). I have also considered and test drove.... 350Z - PROS: Nice looking, pretty fast stock, nice torque. CONS: Too porky for my liking, really have to muscle the wheel when driving aggressively (Auto X'ed my friends) , its a V6, and the sound of the VQ gets old after a while. EVO III - Probably the best bang for the buck on the market, but its a very hard car to buy used because of what the previous owner might have done to it. This is the most capable stock car I have ever driven. I think the words de-tuned race car describe this car. STi - Nice car, but doesn't compare to the EVO. This is more of a souped up street car. I considered sucking up the costs for an EVO or Sti, but I just cant justify having a car payment of 500.00+ a month. There was also a few other entries that are not worth blabbing about. Soooooo anyways.... Enough of that. The other day, it finally hit me.....Why should I buy a nice newer car, just to put it through the harsh New England weather? Well here is what I decided. I decided that I am going to switch back and forth between my 91 Miata (recently got it running with MSPNP, just need to have it finished being tuned) and the Jetta. Currently both of my Miatas have their own garage spaces and are only driven in nice weather. I have however put my NA through the winter before. The paint is good, but still shows its age. There is also a couple small dings here and there. So my NA will be my fun, fast, good on gas daily driver. Along with my Jetta for the snow storms and when I go to Lowes and Home Depot. Now the car that I ended up purchasing is a car that I have always had a soft spot for, but have never driven one until I looked at it today. This car will take my NA's parking spot and join my NB in the garage. Its a 2000 Honda S2000, 1 owner, bone stock, Berlina Black, black leather, 54k, but is in supurb shape for a 2000. I drove 300 miles round trip to the dealer and back today for it. They were asking 15,500.00 window price, but I walked with everything out the door for 15,300.00. So the car itself I got for 14,077.00. The car feels like a souped up NB. The F20C is an incredible motor. The car is agile and feels similar to a Miata. It is twitchy though, I took it through some back roads and the car really does over steer and doesnt seem forgiving like a Miata. I am not complaining though, I would rather work with oversteer than have understeer. I havent researched what people run for alignments on them, but I am certain that the car has not been aligned in some time. I just love a nice high revving N/A motor. Oh and also two cars that are my top must own is a built FD and an R32 Skyline. However, now is just not the right time. I do plan on doing it within the next 5 years. The S2000 I think is a great car to keep things fresh along with my other cars and will definately keep me satisfied in the mean time. I am taking delivery of the car sometime this week, depending on the weather. I am hoping that I will be able to drive it before the weather gets too nasty, altough this week isnt looking soo good. I will take and post pictures once I recieve it. I know this was a long post, but I am just really happy and wanted to share because this has been a never ending battle for me |

Are you getting rid of your NA or just moving it over for garage space?
3 Sportscars sounds a little unnecessary but a small sportscar collection would be my dream. Congrats to you! =D> |

I am hoping that by the time I am 32 that I can build my 10 car deep bay dream garage and have it close to half filled (10 nice cars). People give me a hard time about my car situation and tell me I should just buy one car. My philosophy is that I do not want to live my life like the Norm. I want to be different. I have an obsessive dissorder with performance cars, and want to be that guy with an awesome car collection. Incase you think I am crazy, I have 10 years until I am 32  I already have a pretty damn good foundation built under myself. I am a very motivated and hard working person. I will not stop until I reach my goals. =D> |

Congrats.. Good price. My wife has a AP2 that we just picked up over the summer. For daily she prefers my NA6 since she's usually stuck in traffic and shifting is easier for her. So I get stuck with the S2K, HAHA.

i came to the conclusion that the mx5 is a better all round car than the s2000. that said if you can only have ONE car i would get the mx5, if you had a DD and a weekend car you get the S2000. my only thing i dont like about the s2k is that its got no balls until vtec, but when it vtecs it is so worth the wait.
