They still do conjugal visits right?
"Conjugal visits? Mmmm. Not that I know of. Y'know, minimum-security prison is no picnic. I have a client in there right now. He says the trick is: kick someone's ass the first day, or become someone's bitch. Then everything will be all right. W-Why do you ask, anyway?"

Re: Random Thoughts 4.0

Holy fucking ****... Those Garage Woolery tail right rings...

250$?!?!?

Jesus titty fucking christ, I can machine those out, in a matte finish, or polished finish, for half that price, and still profit on it...
Christ, and the excuse that a new program file has to be made along with a jig (Solid 1, maybe... maybe 2 hours of work to redo?), making for next to no profit on these, buullllllll shiiiiiitttttt.....

....Seriously.... 5000$, minimum, for 40 rings to be made... Holy ****...

Now, I know you guys aren't machinists, but really, making a ring with radius on it and a 120 degree bolt hole pattern on it is faaaaar from laborious work. Manual, or CNC.

I could copy the design, create a jig, write a cnc program, and finish all 40 rings easily in 8 hours. Let just be outragious and say my time is worth 150$ an hour, so let's just 1,200$ in labor. Hell, I can be a little... slow, sometimes, turns out it actually takes me 14 hours to make them, let's just make it an even 2,000$ in labor.

So, now I need some metal, buying drops instead of custom cut bars, looking at about 350$ for enough material and then some. But hey, maybe I'm in a super rush, gotta overnight that ****, plus add a bit more, just incase the extra isn't enough. Let's do 500$ in materials.

So, 2,500$ if I'm a shitty machinist is what it would take to make 40 rings, or 20 sets. Realistic price, 1,500-1,750$ for 20 sets.

Note to mods: As with the first run of trim rings, this is a not a for profit venture, and does not step on the any paying forum sponsors' toes. Thanks!
But, hey, 5,000$ for a set of 20. Not a profit venture.

Are you chanelling MC70, Wonko?
Does MC70 call people out on bullshit? If so, then yes, I might be. :D

But really, just think about the numbers for a moment, and the read how they aren't being made for a profit.

I mean, honestly, I think that's the only thing that irks me, is saying they aren't being made and sold for a profit, when clearly, there is quite a big one being made.

Re: Random Thoughts 4.0

Yeah, and if i had a 100,000 CnC machine and the software to design and translate into g-code i'd also charage $5000.... Just sayin.
Labor rates for machinists / shops is quite high.
Modern day 100,000$ CNC's don't get programmed with gcode anymore though.

Well... They do, but it gets translated through the controller. Essentially, you just enter in your path to follow the blue print dimensions into the controller and it gets converted into gcode instantly. Quite easy really.

Hell, I'm almost tempted to PM him and tell him that if he's interested I can make them for half the cost while still asking for 150$ an hour.

Yeah. But for a simple program like this, i'm assuming they just wrote it manually in g code... Hell, i'm not even a machinist and i bet i could write that in less than a couple hours.

Gopro hero4 is out...

Anyone gonna spend $400 on it??? It has a touch screen...
I was thinking about getting the GoPro Hero4 Black, but its more like $500 and I have been told suffers from overheating issues. So nope.............I'll buy a GoPro Hero 3 black for $200 instead. Not like it will depreciate anymore when the next GoPro comes out like the Hero4 will.

Since this is being read and not said, I'm letting you know this isn't a **** response lol

I am a machinist, tool and die machinist, and can tell you, it doesn't matter how easy of program it is, you almost never write anything in gcode unless using very old machines and are forced to. Time to write that program out, 2 to 3 minutes once dimensions are had for it. Time to take dimensions, 3 to 5 minutes.

That's why I am seriously blown away. Once you know the numbers for what is involved to do so little....

I must say, i feel like a sucker for buying the 2 every time a new one comes out...

It's like getting the new iphone and then 3 months later the new iphone comes out...
