I exercise to be healthy. If you don't want to feel guilty about what you eat, take BSN Cheaters.
Eating bad foods after a workout just negates all that work you did is how I see it. |

meh I'm in better shape than I've ever been and I still eat greasy foods like Chinese or pizza sometimes. No fastfood joints though. My metabolism is up there from weight training, so eating bad stuff has less of an effect than it did when I was sitting on my ass all day.

When I was dropping weight for the couple of fights I competed in, I ate less food that was cleaner* in smaller portions. *Lots of boneless, skinless chicken breasts, brown rice, fruits and raw veggies (e.g. salad with grilled chicken).
I didn't eliminate, but did cut down on things like cookies and soda (down to about 6-8 oz for lunch). Like weight loss with a car, it's easier to find 10 places to lose 100 calories than one place to lose 1000 calories. For example, sub vinagaigrette for creamy dressings, skip the cheese, drink water or unsweetened teas, etc. I rode a bike, pushing myself to set "lap times" over a set distance when I wasn't in the gym training (kickboxing; haven't lifted a weight in years). I'm 5'7" - 5'8" and weighed in under the 140 limit, but I have a naturally slim build. I "maintain" around 153. |

It's still not good for your insides...whether or not you get fat from it it's still doing damage. I think as long as you are doing it in moderation, no problem. We have to enjoy life.

dude what you need to do is eat more. what you want to is eat about every two hours and drink a gallon of water everyday. eating every two hours will speed up your metabolism cause you to burn off unwanted fats. add that to running in the morning and some cardio like jump ropes will def help out alot faster. trust me on this, i dont want to brag but im pretty cut from this and staying on a strict diet. hope that helps

if you wanna get smaller you need to run. def alot of cardio. but also do alot of things that involve your own body weight or low weights with alot of reps. you dont wanna lose the muscle mass you have so at least when you do loose the fat it will be a nice definition. but dont over do it! your body needs to be able to heal to be able to grow. and make sure your eating properly dont starve your body of proper nutrition. eat small meals every 2 to 3 hours especially if your going to be very active. try to stay away from refined sugars and flower. eat clean, its expensive but its worth it. weight loss is 80% diet 20% ur work out and its not a diet. it needs to be a life style change. i was about 220 lbs at 5'7! about a year later im im down to 150lbs, 148 on a good day lol. wish i could of done it back in highschool! but just stick to it man, stay motivated!

What worked out for me the best is to go to the gym during my lunch break.
After that I'm not even hungry and I just eat a very light lunch at around 3 o clock... With more intense work out I managed to loose 1 lbs per day for a week but then I noticed that I was functioning very right... too much cafeine and lack of calories can do that for you... so I went back to my regular routine... The golden advices from me would be: a) Replace lunch with going to the gym b) Don't eat late at night c) understand that you need to starve a little bit and learn to live with it... PS You can't imagine how tasty an IN'N'OUT burger was after my diet.... |

this is advice coming from a ex high school varsity wrestler who is now employed at gnc. Go on a ketosis diet. cardio and lifting is not required to lose weight but it will help so if you do it Do cardio in the morning and lift in the afternoon. If you're going to take any supplements get a fat burner as that's the only thing that will do anything to help. If you're too cheap for the fat burners go buy some caffeine pills at walmart for 4$. The weight should come off very very quickly probly about 2-4lbs a week depending on how intense your cardio is.

I'm 5'7" 190lbs so I feel your pain. For me diet was not enough. A year ago when I started my baseball training there were 2 specific products that I took that I highly recommend. REDLINE by VPX(in liquid form) was by far the best fat burner I have ever taken. You drink it 10 minutes before your workout and holycrap you will not stop. I use to take it at 7pm and not be able to sleep until 3am. The other product is D4(which is in pill form) just take one in the morning and then one in the afternoon and you will be good.
As far as workouts my routine was circuit training on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Then just cardio on Tuesday and Thursday. The circuit training for me was 4 workouts for each muscle group(arms, chest, legs, back, shoulders), 3 sets by 12 reps with very little rest in between sets. A total of 20 workouts in one day. I eventually got down to 170 lean. Supplement brands I use and recommend are VPX and BNS |

From some research i've done, I'm thinking of taking chromium picolinate, fish oil(vitaminE), a multivitamin, and whey protein(muscle milk i believe?).
Here is some guy I knew back in the days and his transformation. He's 5'7. I think taller people have an advantage. I also believe that if its in your genes, its another factor you have to work against.

Dont be to concerned with WHAT you eat right now. Just be careful HOW MUCH you eat. For your weight and size a good goal should be around a 2000 calorie diet for weight loss. Don't bother with supplements yet. Phase one should be to get your body used to doing more work everyday. Sound like you are hitting it hard. One other tip, if you drink pop, STOP. Drink water and lots of it. Gallon a day at least with as much cardio as you say you are doing. |

about a week and a half ago my friends and i started a "who can lose the most weight in a month" contest. we each put in $20 and theres 6 of us. so far i lost 15 lbs and all im doing is the Atkins diet "low carb diet" basicly just eat meat and vegies no bread. ive also been going hiking. its not that hard of a diet. about a year ago i did the same diet and lost 28 lbs in a little over 3 weeks. i hear its not the best diet to be on but hey its working! lol.

Atikins works because it cuts out sugars (simple carbohydrates), but it also cuts out fiber, and whole grains (complex carbohydrates) which are the bodies main engery source. This isn't to bad for people who just want to diet to loss weight, but if you are exercising be sure to get in some complex carbs as well. |

As for soda, I dont drink much of it. I rarely ever do. I'm either drinking juice or water. In about one months time, I go through like 2 or 3 24-pack water cases. |

In highschool I had 7-8% body fat and all I did was eat anything I could get my hands on and rowed (or did rowing related workouts) 5 days a week. In a nutshell, to lose weight, burn more calories than you are eating (eat less calories than you burn in a day) and make balanced, wise choices in what you are eating. Run, bike, swim, or whatever keeps you interested and active. Don't look for the easy way or short cut. You need to put in effort and the best way is to make it part of your lifestyle (join a running club, set up a hike day with people after work etc). |

when i use to wrestle in high school i would start the season at around 200 lbs and end at like 152. the season was only 3 months long so i think thats a pretty good drop. i would reach like 163 a month into the season.
i would run 4 miles with a sauna suit and i would lose a lot of weight after that run but it drains u like crazy. so idk if you would want to do that but it works. and also, i had to do it cause its better to go down weight in wrestling so yeah |

exactly how the F do you know how many calories you burn in a day? When I go lift weights for an hour, I have no machine telling me "you burned x amount of calories GOOD JOB!!!!!" And I haven't stepped on a scale in months. I guess I'm not as hardcore as all of you. I can feel that I'm in decent shape, and that's all I need to know.
So fucking ridiculous, you guys. Just eat until you're not feeling like you're fucking starving yourself. Unless, you LIKE starving yourself. Some people here certainly fucking seem to enjoy that. |
