Are you paid hourly, salary or performance-based (e.g. commision)? Do you have a time-clock or something else that tethers you to your office?

If not, go home when your work is done.

If you are on performance-based pay, do more work and make more money. If you have any ambition to advance from your current position, figure out ways to make yourself and/or your company more productive. Take on an extra task or come up with a potential new project that could see positive returns for your employer (and thus, yourself).

Ah, when I'm editing I usually have tons of downtime while waiting on people who haven't figured out how to meet deadlines. I use that time to read, mostly. New York Times, HuffPo, WSJ, Washington Post, L.A. Times, AP, BBC, and Reuters are my go-to sites. I actually set up a twitter account to follow nothing but news outlets, as it's a handy way to get around paywalls.

When I've had enough news, I'll goof off here, on Facebook or play a few games of Text Twist. If I'm going to have a lot of downtime, I'll work on one of my novels or screenplays.
