That video is from one of Clarksons old videos (Yes, pre DVD), and was talking about the Ferrari test driver whose job it was to push them to destruction. I think the theory behind that detonation was a very hot engine, sudden heavy braking to stop shifting all of the oil to the front of the engine. Insta-seize

I've seen worse one of my female friends bought a modded Miata and had one of my other friends look it over for her (he called me to have a second set of eyes). The car seemed to be oddly lowered into the weeds, but the camber seemed to be about normal, which seemed unusual for its ride height.

To our horror, we soon found out why: the morons had slotted the rear upper control arm where it meets with the wheel. As if that wasn't good enough, they decided to help locate the upper suspension bolt in its new...slot...by tack-welding on a washer on both sides!

Our heads nearly exploded. Needless to say, we advised our friend to buy new upper control arms.
