that light was my phone being on the car for like a second,
but i was using the tint and temperature to try and get rid of the yellow light on the car coming from a street lamp. this is how it looked with less tint

doing my car was a bit easier since i didn't have to worry about the yellow light showing on the dark miata.

Then you can do cool things like this (not my photos, just examples):

I tried doing long exposure myself, but when I was testing to see how much light pollution there was, this is what I got with 2 seconds of exposure

Edit: Which I forgot was at 1600 ISO:

DSC_0033 by The Dark Swordsman, on Flickr

Kinda ridiculous, but kinda cool because it almost looks like a sunset on a cloudy day. I'll try going down to Robert Moses and hope no cops kick me out for parking on the side of the road.

Edit: Here, this is at 100 ISO and 10 seconds of shutter, but still ridiculous:

Anyways, here's some normal stuff that I tried out. I really need to tint my front indicators or use different bulbs so they're actually amber:

DSC_0020 by The Dark Swordsman, on Flickr

DSC_0017 by The Dark Swordsman, on Flickr

I want to go back to that place and try a longer exposure and a lower ISO, not only to reduce grain but also to improve the lighting.

Edit: Also, here's a silly shot of my finger using 68 mm worth of extension tubes:

You should check his posts in the time you've been gone. Dude has been absolutely killing it, particularly in his portrait work.

Decided to move on from my rx100 and go mirrorless, stayed with Sony and got myself an a5100 shortly before xmas, here's a shot of it taken with the rx100 while I was waiting for a lens to arrive

DSC02263.jpg by S-mac86, on Flickr

Eventually decided on the Sigma 30mm f1.4 as my first lens for it, cue lots of attempts at bokeh

DSC02390.jpg by S-mac86, on Flickr

DSC02382.jpg by S-mac86, on Flickr

DSC02337.jpg by S-mac86, on Flickr

and the only landscape shot I got with it so far, which I ended up having to crop and clone a load of crap out of.

those are some great shots smaeda. You have a very defined style that I think would be recognizable if I came across it somewhere else.

Taking portraits is something I haven't really practice but would love to do more of in the future, I love going to anime cons and cosplaying but I don't take my time to set up a decent shot when taking pics of other cosplayers.

Thanks man. Yea, convention photos get tricky if you are using multiple off-camera flashes. It's a huge pain to drag around 3 light stands, modifiers, speedlights/monolights everywhere. I have a wagon that I pull around but definitely not ideal to move around quickly. I usually set-up in a corner somewhere and not move or just use available light.

Does anyone still shoot 35mm? I recently picked up a Canon Canonnet QL17 and a Pentax K1000, but have been falling in love with the quality and ease of the cannonet. I'm still learning how to manually shoot with the sunny 16 rule.
