Here's the rundown, last night I was driving my car under normal conditions (slow but entering boost every now and then) and the car started acting strange. It wouldn't rev past 4k and when it got close to 4k the tach went crazy and it started popping and losing power.
The first thing that came to mind was spark plugs but after thinking on it for a while I think it could also be the CAS, coil pack or maybe the ECU. Background on the car...It's a 99 with a diypnp, 8psi, 7mge 305cc injectors, ngk cold plugs gapped at 40(I know this is stupid and will be re-gapping them to 30 soon), 93 octane always, walbro 190, new plug wires and a fairly conservative tune. Just looking for a few opinions before I start changing out crap that doesn't need to be changed. |

But coilpacks cause a misfire. A crank angle sensor wouldst even allow the car to start. Ecu maybe and definetly the spark plugs. Regap those

Once I get off my ass here I'm going to go get some spark plugs. That's if the parts store is open on Easter Sunday.

Your CAS connecting clip might have a breaking cable. 4 little cables comming off the clip I think (for NAs at least) happened to me. Got to the point where the ground wire comming off the clip broke completely along with mother one and caused my car not only crank and not start. Worth a check.

I had plugs go bad and sound just like that.
.040" gap is huge for stock coils. |

Yeah I got some Toyota cops to eliminate the coil pack and when I was checking my harness to see if it was the same I came across the loose bolt. At first it didn't register but when I saw the three black wires going to it I immediately assumed one was for the cam sensor. Needless to say I felt like an idiot.
