Default JR SC Fuel Management?

OK, I am curious what comes with this kit for the 1.6 to manage fuel demands? I have a Greddy Kit and have the JR Injector Controller with MSD timing box from the "big boost" SC Kit. What comes on the base kit? I have an O2 clamp and running the 10:1 Vortech disc, and looking to tune it, but trying to see the similarity between the two systems to determine where to start. I currently am runing approx 8psi, but PIG RICH!! Like >10:1 under boost.

Thanks

I don't need to know what people recommend, I need to know the JR fuel management they use for the SC kits. Do they have a FPR, or another type of electronic controller? I want to know because I have a Begi and put it on, and tuned it the lowest gain rate and still ran too rich. Can I run it without a FPR, and just use the injector controller and MSD box? Is the Begi busted? I am gonna do Haltech, but just looking for a simple way to run 11:1 A/F till I do the standalone. I work at Alamo Autosports, so I can get it at a great price, so I just need a better "tune" till I get it in the month or so.

Let's see... I have a Mazdaspeed (JRSC) with the original big boost kit. The stock SC setup had just the AFPR. The Big Boost Kit came with the crank pulley, a Walbro 255 pump, and the JR fueling "Black box". I believe the current BBKs come with the Moss fuel card thingie (injector controller).

Yes, it did. My '96 a/c and ps came with an AFPR in '01 when I ordered it.

Yeah, it sounds to me like you're running two types of fuel enrichment, which is why you're too rich. I would ditch the black box JR fuel enrichment which is a cheep hack and tune just with the Begi.

I am running both so I don't have to run 140psi fuel pressure on the stock injectors @ 9psi. I was asking cause I want to install the Begi or goto the 8:1, 6:1, 4:1 discs. I just wanted to make sure that I actually needed the AFPR before I went to lower ratios. Now that I know the AFPR was used in conjunction with the JRIC, I am gonna tune it accordingly.

if you're running greater than 10:1 AFR with both devices...wouldn't it be safe to say you dont need both to support your output?

I am still running the stock injectors, so I am running high fuel pressures, and I am looking to drop them down to something closer to 80-90psi.

that's fine. but the FMU alone should be plenty.

as is, you're dumping in more fuel mechincally, the more fuel pressure = the greater HP supported. At the same time you're adjusting the electrical side of things and telling the ECU to dump in more fuel by adjusting pulse widths and whatnot.

what are you fuel pressures in boost currently?

At 8-9psi a typical greddy kit will be pumping out close to 170rwhp. with 230cc injectors, 100psi of fuel alone could support that power, without any additional devices to fust around with things.

If you want to lower you fuel pressure, simple get 1.8L injectors, the correct disc for you vortech, and remove the JR fueling device. Or pull the FMU altogether and work with just the JR device, however, I doubt it will be the superior of the two choices.

fwiw, I was running 200rwhp for the longest time with just a vortech fmu and slightly larger injectors.

Well, I wanted to use the the Begi to cut down on the fuel pressure and let the JR deal with the extra demand. I don't have a fuel pressure gauge, or the Begi would be on and tuned. I put all these plans on hold, and will probably be pulling all this stuff out and running a Haltech E6 or E8 and bigger injectors (550 if E6, 1000 if E8 due to better injector controls).

Haltech or bandaids, let's weigh the options

get the 550s and call it a day...do you really need support for 700BHP?

Never hurt to be over-prepared. Maybe I'll build it for 400+whp later on, doubt it, but the injectors are the same price regardless of size, so go big and never buy again.

on a 1.6L?

the 550s should be enough for close to 400hp.

It was actually a joke, I have 460s in the garage waiting to go in.
