Default PREORDER THREAD: Radio Gauge/Blanking Plates ($30-35)

Ok, in anticipation for our first production batch of radio gauge/blanking plates that will be cut, some people have PMed about preordering. I can say that Leon and I are happy to take preorders, so here's how it'll work.

To preorder, follow the instructions below:
  1. PM me (VagaXt) your order and include the following information: year of your Miata, single/double-DIN, # of holes, hole positions (if applicable), color
  2. PM me (VagaXt) your shipping address
  3. Paypal either $30 (single-DIN) or $35 (double-DIN) to sales@injoycarlife.com as PERSONAL --> PAYMENT OWED with the same order information that you put on your PM to me (VagaXt).

Attention NA8 (1994-97) Miata owners:

You will receive additional special instructions via PM for ordering your !n-joy Radio Blanking/Gauge Plates. Apparently, there are two different versions of the radio surround piece for the NA8 Miatas that made us design two different adapter brackets and radio plates for the NA8. To get you the right set for your Miata, we need you to help us know which version of the radio surround you have!!

Note for preorder customers on the ETA of parts for our first production run:

In terms of ETA on getting your parts delivered, we are currently getting a quote from the waterjet company right now to verify costs and the quantity we need to order to start the first production run. If all goes well, we can confirm sometime next week, and the production/shipping to us for finishing the parts will be one week from the day we confirm the production run. I'll keep everyone updated via PM and this preorder thread.

Feel free to ask me any questions about ordering, options, etc. Thanks again.

2 q's, any option for "6" 52mm openings? and is it possible to do 2 separate single din plates if I want to get rid of radio at a later time?

1. We are looking to see if there is space for 6. Chances are that there is, but we haven't made a plate with 6 holes yet. Leon is looking into it right now.

2. Currently, there's no add-on option to bolt two single-DIN plates together as we didn't design a bracket to accomodate two separate single-DIN plates. I think the only solution is to swap out for a double-DIN version.

Let me know if you have anymore questions.

PREORDER UPDATE (10/20):

Here's an update. The cost quote has been approved and the waterjet cutting has started. We looking to receive the raw aluminum parts by Thursday, Oct. 28 at our shop. From there, we will be finishing (prepping, drilling, tapping, powdercoating, packing, etc.) all the parts and will be ready to send to customers soon after.

No ETA on delivery to customers until the products pass quality checks under Leon's scrutinizing craftsman eyes. We want these to be perfect for you, of course. After the checks, there will a notification of shipping to all preorders.

PREORDER UPDATE (11/1):

Just got word from Leon that our first production cuts of our NA radio plates have arrived at our shop today. Also, we have presold 2 NA6 double-DIN sets (blank) and 1 NA8 single-DIN set (1-hole, offset) already and will probably get another round of production cuts to restock on NA6 double-DIN sets and get more 3-hole cover plates cut.

If you are on the fence to buy one, now's the time to tell us as we can get a better idea of what to cut for the next run. For more info, visit http://injoycarlife.com/.

There should have been at least one presell for a NA8 single-DIN set (1-hole, centered) plate.

Did anyone else trying installing an NA8 single-DIN gauge panel yet? I can't seem to get it to fit. I removed the rear adapter section of the panel and positioned the two "wings" to the top.

The first problem is that the adapter interferes with the black metal "bar" that goes between the upper and lower section of the radio opening. I removed the bar in the hope that the adapter section would act like the bar and support the radio installed in the upper section of the panel, but it's way too loose to support the radio. There doesn't seem to be any way for the black bar and the adapter to coexist. To make matters worse the holes in the "wings" appear to be too small for the screw that held the black bar to fit through. Anything that is small enough to fit through the hole is too small to thread into the hole on the back of the surround.

I tried just placing the gauge panel the the blank area in the front of the surround and wasn't really pleased with the gap to either side. It's hard to get a feel for the fit without it screwed down to the adapter, but it didn't seem to fit nearly as tight as my existing plastic gauge panel.

Am I doing something wrong in terms of the install, did I get an NA6 kit my mistake, or is there a problem with the NA8 single-DIN panels?

EDIT: I just realized all that came off as really negative. I am very happy with the finish of the materials themselves, and powdercoat matches the stock black plastic a lot better than the plastic panel I previously had. I'm just trying to dump all the little details I'm been fiddling with before I start forgetting stuff.

You do have it in the intended orientation. Also note, your version of the NA8, the adapter is reversible, so you can mount the plate either on the top or bottom DIN slot.

The holes in the wings in the adapter plate you received look like they are the same size as the holes for the adapter, which looks like a mistake during the finishing process as bigger screws (compared to the cover plate screws) are meant to fit through the adapter plate and thread into the radio surround. I'm looking at one of the final prototypes right now in my house and the wing holes should be about 1.5 times bigger in diameter to accommodate for the screws to thread to the radio surround.

This is an obvious mistake, so to make it quick and easy for you, I could send you one another adapter plate the correct hole size to replace the one you have. Let me know over PM.

Because of the wing hole size error in the adapter plate, it looks impossible to get the screw in to lock the adapter plate solid to your radio surround. If I send you the replacement adapter plate, you should be able to fasten the adapter plate strongly to the radio surround and have it able to support your radio.

Also, you are correct that the black bar on your radio surround is not compatible with our adapter plate. However, you could still use our adapter plate to support the radio, once you have the correct size for the adapter wing holes and securely fasten the adapter to the radio surround.

The gap between the radio and the cover plate were designed that way to accommodate for big bezels on some aftermarket radios. Though it appears for your radio, there isn't much of one that bleeds into the bottom DIN slot.

The install looks correct from what I can see.

The panel that i have does not have that support bar on it. I can get one to make some changes in the next batch of parts to incorporate the use of both the gage plate and the support bar.

there should be two #10 screws that were with the plate that will thread in.
