It's time for us to do our initial run of the G-Shield Hardtop Window.
So as always we are going to offer it at a discounted price. This is the run where our fabricator will figure out where any complications come in when he does quantity, so after this there will most likely be a price adjustment. We feel the price they have initially given is us too low considering what has gone into this project, but since they gave us the pricing they did, we are going to pass the savings to you. Keep in mind they will not go below this price, so it's probably a good time to take advantage. We will start production on this batch Monday, October 22, 2012. That gives you guys a week to decide if you want to get in on this. We cannot give an exact date it will be back from fabrication, but I would figure at least a week from then. It all depends on what configurations you guys want. To be fair, we will start with which ever style is in highest demand. Blank windows of course will be ready soonest. Please keep in mind, you can always cut your own vents. This will allow you to choose what you feel is the best configuration. Right now we are going to start by offering 3 different vent configurations and also blank. ![]() Original 2 Pop-Vent Configuration ![]() 2 Large Twist Vent Configuration Comes with caps that twist in for a air and watertight seal ![]() 3 Pop-Vent Configuration I have personally cut all the vents you have seen so far and I have to say if you are handy with a Dremel, it's not that big of a deal. We must also let you know Project-G will not be responsible if you damage the window in any way while attempting this. This includes cutting the holes incorrectly, scratching or cracking the window or any other possible way to damage it. We are going to be offering everything separately so you can configure it to your liking: $280 - Bare G-Shield (Bare Window Only) $18 - Large Aluminum Washer Set w/ Hardware (Enough for 6 mounting points) We highly recommend this at the very least to replicate the OEM mounting points. $16 - Stainless Hardware Kit w/ gaskets (16 mounting points) Some drilling will be required to mount the window using this method. $19 each - Twist Vent w/ Stainless Hardware (Black/Black Center. White/White Center. Black or White/Clear Center) $9 each - Pop Vent $15 - Cutting fee for each hole. $65 Flat Rate Shipping in the Con. US. Professional installation is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. |

With your configuration, that is correct. There will be some necessary mods on your end if you are going with the 16 extra mounting points. Also, I would recommend using some sort of mechanical fastening to the 6 factory mounting points.

Question, are the twist vents removable from the exterior? As in, can anybody just walk by and take your vent covers? Or am I not picturing this right?

I suppose that is true, just as they can take the emblems, antenna, or turn signals. It would be a really random piece to take.

True. And I'm not saying it's steering me away from the window. Still want, very much. But do you sell replacement twist-vent covers? I think I'd buy a couple extra sets just to keep in the trunk, in case some asshole decides to plunk one of em when it rains.

I understand your concern. We should always have the vents in stock.

![]() This is with the Large Twist Vents installed. At the top I put a blue piece of tape at the level the Pop Vents mounted on the top are. The tape is not visible. When I was testing them, they were barely visible if I changed my position looking for them. The vents mounted low don't seem to take up much "usable" mirror space for me, but we all adjust our mirrors differently. Just as my double diagonals don't seem to bother me either. |

Which hardware would be best if its getting installed by a professional? And if it can't be installed by a pro, would one be better than the other?
My hardtop has a couple cracks in the fiberglass, and am slightly worried that might stop a professional from installing the window... |

Just curious, when you had this installed on your car in the removable mode, did it leak in the rain, and if not did you use some type of removable gasket to seal around the window it self. Also free bump.

I was going to add a gasket, but it wasn't that bad. I would wash my car and there would be some water around the edge, but that was about it. However, it made a lot of creaking noise due to the fact it was just the window against the flange around the opening and I didn't want to crank down on the fasteners and deform the window. I believe with a very thin gasket, it would be fine. We are going to experiment with that type of stuff shortly
