Default DIY Hardtop side striker, bolt on plates with wing nut

Costs me less then $5. I used some 14 ga. steel, a heavy duty pair of sheers, a vice for hammering and tempering the bends and a simple 1/4 bolt with a wing nut.

Strong, sturdy, cheap.

I'll post my DIY side brackets up soon...

How is that supposed to stop thieves? It's barley harder to undo than a latch.

Btw if you just want to buy some latches I have some I'd sell you.

^I don't think he had theft prevention in mind when he made it. Looks more like he made it since the OEM latches wont work with his roll bar, at least tha'ts my guess.

I like the fact that you can probably get a better seal with this setup as opposed to any other bolt down metal bracket. Until the brackets start bending.

A for effort though.

I'll help you with theft.
1. strip those bolts and screws so its hard to unbolt those plates
2. add
3. profit?

I made it to tighten the unit down to reduce wind noise.. and to work around the roll bar.

Ugly.. yes.. but functional. Function > Form

forgive my ignorance, and I've done a search, but I also need side strikers that will work with roll bars. Is anyone making a nice looking and cheap kit? I don't care if I have to un-bolt it to take the hardtop off...

I just don't want to buy factory strikers, install a roll bar, then realize the factory strikers won't work. I currently have zero strikers on the side

I like the idea, and the function makes sense, right now I have no side latches, im going to look at some options on making something like this.. just.. prettier lol
