Default Help needed with wiring horn to aftermarket wheel

Hey everybody,
Sorry if this is the wrong forum to post this question. I replaced the steering wheel multiswitch in my n/a miata and am having trouble getting the horn to work. There was a bundle of three wires coming out from the bottom of the switch that went to a plug that came out the front of the clock spring (which i had to cut down to get the aftermarket wheel on there). There is a gray wire, red wire, and a green and red wire. The horn went off when i cut the wire. With the mono horn switch it looks like one of the wires goes into the back of the switch then grounds when the button is pushed. I've tried connecting and grounding all the wires and haven't gotten anything to work. Connecting certain wires makes something under the dash click but no horn. I'm a total wiring noob so any help is appreciated. Driving without a horn makes me nervous.
