I have FCM top hats all four corners but the tallish Konis prevent getting much lower. I wonder if the new Garage Star top hats would be of benefit.

Those are just nb top hats.

Yes, you need the garage star top hats. The shock body goes into the top hat. Assuming your coils don't bind, you gain a lot of travel while sacrificing droop travel. But assuming you've got good sways and aren't rock crawling , you'll be fine.

I think the Garagestar hats will be a nice alternative to trying to source the ISC's. Their site and communication hasn't always been the greatest from what I've seen.

Ken does an awesome job of getting products out fast. If you do go with an extended rear hat I would be hesitant to go taller than 1". There's some interesting convo on M.net (I believe) about the taller ISC hats being less than ideal.

So much fun on 13" Hankook Zovac studded tires. We got a fair amount of snow the last couple days and I had to get out and see what the car would do. The car seemed nearly unstoppable, ride height was the biggest concern, not the traction.

Happy 25th Aniverssary to all Miata out there!
Mine got 2 little gifts in the mail today.

External mic for Gopro Hero 3, read that a lot of guys got good sound from this $20ish mic.

And off eBay, these later NA8 door handles. I noticed passengers tended to look for something to hold onto and my current door panels only had this bright red strap. But that opens the door.
So I'm going to look at installing maybe just one on the passenger side. I don't need one in the driver's seat.

Took a minute today to clean up my TR C1 wheels since they were off the car. Also cleaned the garage floor from the nasty snow melt.
Rescheduled alignment for Thursday morning.

Where's the build thread for the 997? Perhaps it needs to visit EVOMS or Sharkwerks?

No doubt, my wife had been talking mods. Which is amusing in itself, mostly cosmetic. Wheels, lower, deck and lower front spoiler.

I'd agree with exhaust for sure. The exhaust note never really moves me until above 6000rpms. THEN it sounds like a Porsche should.

Small update today.
I was quite happy to get an alignment, after the suspension and steering rack had been disassembled. Surprisingly, I got the toe back close to where it should have been just by eye balling.
These alignment numbers are definitely more aggressive than the last alignment. About 3 degrees of camber front, 2 and 1/2 degrees camber in the rear. Decided to keep the caster around 4 degrees, seems like a good balance between high speed stability and ease of steering. Also after reading more autocross alignment numbers I decided about 1/16 inch toe out the front and 1/16 inch toe in, in the rear.
Car really feels great right now, took the extra long way home. The steering really is fantastic and I think the extra camber and toe in the rear will help with spinning the tires or getting loose.

We were able to get about 150 (my weight) pounds in the driver's side while setting the alignment.

You can see that even with the steering rack spacers and R package tie rod ends, it did not completely get the tie rods parallel to the ground. But at least it is closer.

While I was there I was also able to measure pinch weld height with the ballast in the car. Front and rear all measure about 4.5 inches. Which means I could raise the rear up a bit for rake.

Looking for lunch I stumbled across this food truck. They called it the double smoked, bacon dog topped with pulled pork and coleslaw. Every Thursday this truck will be in near my house.

Ryan, why didn't you just hop into the car while it was being aligned? numbers look good though, Its pretty great that you have almost 3 degrees up front with a reasonable ride height

Well I could have but I like to look around, snap pics and be a PITA to the tech. But actually he's a very nice guy who takes his time and doesn't mind BSing, he drives an old Civic in Rallycross.
