The aspect of being more visible is worth the possibility of rice. You hear stories all the time about these cars being hit because "I didn't see you."

All exterior bulbs also from Amazon?

Improve your suspension, power, traction, paint. Not lighting, that's rice. Lol.
Our other 2 German cars have crisp, bright and efficient lighting inside and out. Technology is here for our old cars. Embrace it.

Just the parking lights and headlight bulbs, are from Amazon. Oh and the interior/dash bulbs are online too.

Listed below is what I got from our local NAPA, you can also decide if you want to run the color matched bulbs to the lense, which I did, or use white bulbs behind colored lense.
Side markers, front and rear- 194 (same as gauges)
Rear turn signals, reverse, and license plate lights- 1156
Rear tail light/brake light- 1157

When I was friends with a guy who owned a 10" lifted 2006 RAM 2500, he did a pretty nifty thing with these LEDS. He attached them to the dome light in such a way that they only turned on when someone opened the door or when locking/unlocking the car. He had a step so it concealed the LEDs from the drivers on the side and just illuminated the ground immediately in front of the step. Then, when he used his turn signals, it would override the white light and blink yellow in accordance with each side.

I think for a lifted truck, it was pretty neat and logical. I think the same thing would be good for any car that doesn't have ground illumination on the sides of the car.

Speaking of under glow, why don't we just go back to neon tubes.

I am running sealed beams. Been too lazy and cheap to upgrade. Driving Zak's cx-5 with LED headlights and auto brights was life changing. Time to get new all the things.

I know it's not your DD, but I'd run straight off the road if DD'd a Miata with sealed beams in PDX dark, rainy nights. I nearly did on a back road in my old 911 with sealed beams.

Sealed Beams or Halogen Sealed Beams?

My Sylvania H6024 Xtravision's are pretty darn good, so much so that I really don't want to convert to LED or HID.

I mean the original halogen sealed beams.

I like to live dangerously. And considering this time of year I'm driving to and from work in the dark I should change it. Meh. Oh well. I know the roads I'm driving...

What's your current setup? I'm too lazy to dig back through. I'm considering picking something up and I liked the lights Aidan has in his truck...

Thanks for the info. Interior is partially LED'd, should probably finish that first before doing the outside.

Love the LED light conversion everywhere, this has been on my long term project list for quite some time. Looks great.

Hey all.

We were out of town scoping out the job in Tampa again. If all goes well, well move there this summer.
While we were gone, Portland seemed to shut down again from a big snow storm.
So perfect timing!

The doc we were meeting with showed us what a drivetrain failure feels like in a shiny new Infiniti QX80. Like $80,000 car right? Developed a vibration, which then sounded like bolts and things falling out the back, to loud BANG, clunk, clunk, clunk.

Got the Miata out after the ice and snow melted. The gravel! Omg, so much gravel on the roads. Portland doesn't use salt, cause baby native leprechauns or something.

Sold our wagon today to a local friend.

Signed a lease on a 2017 Dodge Durango RT. Haggled with 3 dealerships through text. Best way I've ever done it, I knew which options I wanted and had 3 dealers texting me their best offer. I'm no good at in person negotiations. I'll just cave.
365hp and 395tq. I'll add a little more tomorrow about the, "truck" Even though it's still a unibody chassis, this is the most truck like thing I've owned, it tows 7200lbs. Which was a consideration living in Florida, with some pretty great tracks. Sebring being a bucket list track.

PS, the UCONNECT infotainment and controller of all the things is one of the easiest systems I've used.

Great build thread. I get a chuckle from every name change. Best of luck on all the changes. Always good to remain positive when change is present!

Yeah man!

Wow, did not anticipate how much I would enjoy this thing. It drives so great, SPORT mode is the best. Bye bye mpg.

Washed 2 cars, Panny was embarrasing.

What was the reason for booting the baby benz? That was a pretty car.

It was indeed but it was expensive. Short term, pocket 15 grand and reduce payments in half for 3 years.

Here was the short comings for me. Yes it will seat 5 adults and 2 kids but if you flip the seats in the back up for the 2 kids there's really no room left for much at all. So this is more roomy for all passengers and more space to stow things.

The suspension is really soft, making for an extemely plush ride but not a sporty ride.
Really numb steering.
Infotainment that was sort of outdated already when it was new.

My other thought was since we may be moving to Tampa, the Miata is not well suited for hot temperatures on long +80mph straight highways to the different venues I hope to hit. So I now have the option to tow in comfort.

Benz vs Hemi SUV, in the South..........No brainer. Towing to Sebring .... you chose wisely. White will also be appreciated with the boiling sun. So many cool places to see in FL, do you scuba dive? Excellent diving. My biggest mistake when I was in recently in Clearwater and was going to dinner with the family before 6 pm. Places were overflowing with coupon-packing geezers taking advantage of the "early bird" specials. Parking lots were full and you had to wait for them to shuffle back to their cars, scooters galore. Watch out for them on the major thoroughfares too, lots of wtf moments, I was only there 3 nights and saw 2 major T-bones from someone running a red light and while doing a U-turn. Hard to forget the sound of those cars hitting.
