^ YOU, sir, have to promise to contact me if and when you decide to get rid of those Star Sharks. For real. Cause they're perfect.

And thanks for the complements everyone.

Just a question - since you already had the engine out of the car, why not just drop the pan to drill the turbo oil drain? It has always been my experience that some little piece of cutting swarf always runs away and hides or otherwise avoids being picked up. I would assume the cost of a new pan gasket would be repaid in peace of mind. If you are adding a turbo, it may be a good idea to drop the pan and see whether your bearings are in pristine condition or whether your bottom end has one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel.

The shavings are very soft aluminum. I'm not losing any sleep over it somehow getting past my oil filter and into the system. As for the bottom end, I measured the crank end play. It's perfectly within spec. I'd rather leave everything sealed as long as possible than crack it open on a whim.

Also, I have spares of everything, so if this engine goes kablamo, I'll just swap in a spare one.

a local guy recently lost an engine due to metal shavings from redrilling the pan... I'd encourage you to drop it, its the only "right" way, IMO. And yes, I that know hundreds, if not thousands of people have drilled their oil pans with out issue.

NVM, it looks like you already did it. Nice job on the rear lip!

Adam, I must say your car has inspired me (probably others also). I must now go finish my wire tuck on my NA.

Bravo sir,
Ready to see what that FMII kit gives you. Any idea on how much boost your wanting to push?

I got something I've wanted for most of my Roadster-driving life: The KG Works Instrument Panel. I put up a full review on my blog.

Highlights:

It's just.... perfect. I love it. It's better than I ever expected it to be. Should have bought one of these things years ago.

Thanks to Rod for selling me this and to Cooper for the heads up that Rod had one of these to sell.
