Back Story: Before owning my m-edition i had previously owned a 1993 POS 1.6. The transmission was having issues and i knew the 1.6 wasn't going to cut it for what i wanted to do. Also at the time i had very little experience working on cars. I treated it more as a test dummy car. Anyways, i had a few basic things like maintenance, exhaust, coils and wheels.
On to the new car! A 1995 M edition! Picked her up on June 6th 2014.(yes i'm starting this build thread late :/ )I lucked out and got it from a friend for deals!
What is your approach with priming the panel? rattle can? I don't have much experience with prepping stuff and handing off to someone else to paint. Is there a chance that they won't accept your prep work?
btw, I got a couple quotes... one place quoted 225 and the other 300
The place that quoted me 225 is in Duvall. It's called wreck-a-mend and they have a website. It's a shop outside of a guy's house and they did a good job matching my hardtop.
Black and merlot look great together! I thought about leaving it, but since I don't have any other black pieces on my car it looked a little odd in my opinion.
Lights came back from paint!!!!
Oh yeah and fender flares. I ordered some clear wrap the put on my fenders and quarter panel as a paint protector. When i used 3m tape on my trunk lid spoiler it ended up scratching my paint :/ (not the tape but the contact from the piece)
Tail light positioning inspired by Joel (ROAD.STAR)
I want to say that they let this panel dry outdoors and stuff landed on it. I wish i would have noticed when i picked up the parts and confronted them about it.
Blew it and parked right outside my work when we had a skate event for the new remodel. Some kids thought they were James Bond and slid all over my trunk... Scratched as hell. Best part was that a few days prior i had busted my ass buffing the whole car... sick
Luckily most of it buffed out!!
Mail call!!
I ordered some clear vinyl wrap to place under the fender flares. If i ever get around to putting those on... I might just put some at the top of the doors to avoid finger prints.
Osh!!! Also pulled this power steering assembly from a buddys parts car. Thanks Aldo! This thing is dirty as fukis... Just going to wait for Garage Star to release their inner tie rods before i get to installing this. That way i can knock them both out and get my front re-aligned.
