Hey what's up. The the tittle says, I'm back in a Miata. Mainly driven Hondas but local young Honda crowd just isn't my kind of people. Wife actually suggested I get a Miata since she loved my old one from a few years back.
That car was fun with a used Bilstein/coilover set up I bought of a CR member but ultimately was sold to fund a Acura TSX so I could drive down to California with the family.
Went though a few more cars, got the bug again for some autoX and used my current Civic. Had sitting so I used some old parts I had from previous Hondas and went cone dodging.

Now that we're mostly caught up, here's my current Miata I just picked up. 1999 model pretty high Milage but feels healthy and runs strong. Here are some pics.
And some stuff I just picked up
Just doing some basic maintenance and hoping to maki it to the season opening autoX event that is fast approaching.
Was a welcomed surprised to find that the car came with a FM 1" adjustable front bar as well.
Here it is with 15x8 +25 Konigs and 205/50 re11a's installed. Managed to set it at a 12.75/13.25 ride height for now. Time for an alignment and then a rainy autoX tomorrow.
Went to the opening AutoX this past Sunday. Car felt good and pretty neutral. Although I looked/felt/drive like a newb. Hoping with seat time that will fix itself. Sunday was full of rain and strong winds but cleared up by the third group which I was in..... Till I was inline waiting for my 6th run and the heavens opened up and it looked like a tropical storm. Here's one picture that came up of my car.
Well wether is nicer around these parts and have been driving the car every chance I can. Went deep into the backwoods today.
Also found this 2.5" Magnaflow muffler and decided I will make an attempt at making my own exhaust. I have a 110v welder at my disposal. I'll start with the axle-back section first and go from there.
AutoX'd the car today. Fastest time of the day was 39.9ish and mine was 45.2ish. Eh. Paid more attention to tire temps for once. Also got a little over zealous on my 2nd to last run and ran over a cone with completely knocked one of my "skirts" so now the car looks like a #driftcah
My kid sister was out at the autoX yesterday with her Nikkon.
Forgot to mention I had set the front bar on the stiffer setting and even my newb ass noticed a difference. Here are more pics.
Threw the new to me manifold in the car. Also put some of that heat deflecting foil on the crossover tube and under the air-box closest to the manifold.
Not done with the rear brakes just yet. The RR caliper isn't cooperating. A local guy with a parts car is gifting me one of that car and I'll probably rebuild the busted one I currently have.

Well k haven't driven the car yet. Sound isn't much different either, that might change once I throw in the newer high flow filter. As far as the EGR tube, I was lucky and my new mani came with the matching tube. I'm anxious to drive the car. For Milage, my car has 197k on the ticker.
Been a to 2 autox events since last post. Still drive like a newb but getting more familiar with the car.
So I re-sealed the vc and took the opportunity to spray some wrinkle black paint on it. Came out ok for my first time. Also found an older FIA OMP Eco seat for a really good price. Just have to plan out the brackets now.
After cleaning my garage and working on the yard I finally washed the engine bay and car. Turned out a littler better. After that I went and beat on the out somewhere in the Camas backwoods. Ready for tomorrow's and next Sunday's AutoX.
Here's the one pic from Sunday's Autocross. Event went pretty crappy for me. My re11a's felt funky and I just couldn't get them to stick. Almost felt like all-seasons. Front sway bar is going back on stiffer setting for this next weekend.
That would be awesome. I still haven't forgot about the MOMO hub so hopefully you stick around.
Finally replaced the crappy OEM bumpy stops for Acura pieces front and rear. Also removed the stock spring perch. Car seems less bouncy. I probably don't know what I'm talking about.
I also found this OE(?) strut brace that a Honda Part shop/manufacturer was selling from a Miata they imported. Got it for about half what I found them for on EBay.
I wasnt planning on using a "shift extender" or what ever they are called but we had an extra one of these from a specialty insult ion job were doing. 5" tall 3/4" wide SS. Might just make one now.
Went cone dodging yesterday. Lots was bouncy and car hopped like a lowrider all day. Maybe time to consider higher springs rates based on a buddies recommendations.
Here's a pic from Sunday's autoX. Only one I've seen so far.
