Default The Less Epic off road MSM

So, having seen a few people put together lifted miatas in different ways, I have had the itch to put one together for myself to drive to work. Wasn't really sure what kind of car I wanted to use, but I have had my eye peeled for "that perfect car". I just don't have it in me to cut up a nice clean car, and at the same time I didn't want one that was so ratted out that I couldn't drive it for a couple years. Along came this 2004 MSM.

I bought it a few months backing thinking that I would clean it up, fix some rust, and try to sell it in the spring. Got it home and found that the quarter rust was BAD!!! In addition to other damage I had already known it had, I decided it would be too much of an investment in time and cash to fix for resell, however it only has 94k miles on it, so it may be a perfect car for my lifted daily.

Used the Paco lift and the stock bilsteins. I fought with it for a bit, ended up trimming about 3/4 of one coil from the rear coils to make it level, but here is the result!

Still working out a few kinks, but so far the car drives/rides great. All that everyone talks about these msm's is that the gearing is not well suited and you are constantly running out of gear/high reving on the highway. I figured the taller tires will help with that.

If Jebb Lee did this the internet would explode.

Forgive my ignorance, who is Jebb Lee,

I happen to think this thing is going to be a lot of fun. I order a Harbor Freight tubing bender on Saturday, will be bending up a brush guard for it too...

Sweet. But that only solves a few of the 6 speed's many faults.

Should be a lot of fun.

Yes it will be my daily driver assuming no glaring issues show their face, but my local SCCA chapter runs a rally cross series also so I am hoping to get it into some of that this year also, never tried my hand there.

Either way I am stoked to have something again that I can beat on/play with and drive regularly. My v8 car is just too nice to work 100 miles a day.

Well now, did not not about local SCCA chapter or rally cross in our neck of the woods. I've long thought some of the mine roads around here would make for a great rally stage and that something like your latest creation would be a hoot to explore them on.

And oh yeah, you should definitely get that tubing bender.

Yeah, they are actually the west ky scca club, and its not a real intense rally class but it does at least give another option besides autocross.

Tubing bender is coming, needing something bent? I saw the rust repair you have going, looks real good.

Don't need any bent tubes before my car is back together, which is my focus for right now. Nice to know somewhere to go for future projects though.

Probably be hitting you up before long for a few little parts I still haven't got yet.
