Default Project: Munique needs to go faster!

Well whats up everyone, thought id start making this since im dedicating more and more time into this moderate build. Im very new to working fully with cars so any suggestions or anything would be appreciated. bought the car with 95,xxx after my Mitsubishi Mirage 97's tranny gave out(kind of glad since i cant really do much with it)and glad that i bought the miata to actually work on. So im gradually learning now how to work around cars, currently have a pretty alright budget for a 19yr old. So without further wait..Lets start this

I unfortunately havent taken pictures of the work ive done to the car, only on the things that have come in..

As soon as i bought the car I rebuilt the tranny and replaced the clutch and flywheel with another oem one since it was slipping when bought, though the belts had been replaced with new ones which made work a bit more easier on me.

Parts so far ordered/installed/put in since then:
Magnecore competition spark plug cable set
NGK BKR6E-11 V-Power spark plugs
Fluids:
Royal Purple 5w-30 Synthetic motor oil
Royal Purple high performance oil filter
Red Line 75W-90 synthetic rear differential oil
Red Line MTL/MT-90 synthetic transmission oil
Red Line Water Wetter
Line Water Wetter

Decided to take care of maintenance first specially since a friend of mine kept emphasized on the maintenance, which i agree on as well. And wil also be upgrading the suspension on this little roadster as my next step or during maintenance.

Currently waiting on:
-FM Sway bars
-clutch start disabler
-front tranny seal
-small and large shift boot

So ive been a bit lazy updating, but finally a rainy day that got me to stay in and update, here it is:

Have recieved my FM sway bars and happy to have them though im thinking to install with a friend once i buy a new brake system for car, though here is a pic, not the best but all i have is a camera phone.

along with that i recieved my Valve gasket, and front tranny seal, my shoft boots, which was a good install seeing as how my old boots were crap:

and as extra i went aside and bought tow hooks, which will go on whenever i decide to get a paint job, and some Rotas 13x8(picture of them on my car will be going up soon):

so im upgrading slowly now due to some other things i needa pay but yeah. Another update: i bought 949 Adjustable Heim-Endlinks since i thought that would only be better to install with the FM Sways and i can do em both while im down there. Heres the pic of them.

haha didnt take pic of my own cause i apparently put it off to the side until i realized that it was to late once installed and off the ramps. I can tell the difference though, and wow its nice.

Thank you! hopefully i can make enough this check to get my hands on some coils like tein flexs(was thinking of a paint job but i keep juggling the idea). though if not flexs then an early 120 maintenance all around my engine replacing all seals and all(maybe water pump) but yeah. still pondering.

so my team photographer was finally free and uploaded the pictures of my car with rollbar fully done. here it is:

And my favorite:

So now im really looking into an early 120k full maintenance with FM's Engine Rebuild Kit. This is because while getting an oil change from a family friends shop i trust they told me that aside from the rear crank seal replacement, i should also consider that the ticking sound coming from my engine is a bad valve which could be burning my oil because i was very low. Not sure yet if i wanna also buy the valves and spring kit from FM also but yeah, still doing a bit more research. Hopefully it all works out before the Laguna Seca Event.

The ticking sound is probably due to noisy HLA's. Do a search on it there are tons of threads. Basically it's pretty normal with our cars but you can take them and clean them or get new ones to make it *better*. Nice looking car so far.

i was thinking it was that though 2 mechanics are telling me other wise though i kind of gotta give it to the people who have been around miatas to damn much compared to people who work with all kinds of cars haha. thanks though, my guess is (and hopefully im correct) the rear crank seal which i will replace.

Looks like some good choices so far. Keep doing your research also, it shows. Don't sweat the ticking. Sometimes oil weight will do it. I run 20/50 summer, 10/30 fall, and 5/30 winter. Try to get that rear main replaced to keep the sludge away from your clutch and flywheel. And definitely watch out for some tein flexes, it's an excellent coilover for street/track/looks.

so i ahvent been posting up much on what ive been really doing for the laguna seca event though i have gone good ways since then (i need to take pics but i keep forgetting). Since then i ahve added carbotech brake pads, 949 rotors, a good enough paint job(not really neccesary but i hated looking at the spots of faded pinkish paint, harness bar, headlight conversion to H4 housings and FM lightbulbs as well.

Here is some recent pictures that i took with a buddy. From his blog

Old School Big Beast & Little Beast

Today’s weather was a great opportunity for taking pictures, so I called up a buddy, quickly detailed the car, and drove around while the sun was setting after work. I hope you like them!

The methanol-powered street beast.

The road racing machine in progress.

My favorite picture from the shoot.

Another angle.

One more.

Side by side.

View from the back.

Second favorite. This reminds me of an advertisement/brochure.

Another angle.

Time to touge.

Right behind ya.
I have a few more, but these were the better ones. This particular MX-5 will be boosted soon after other groundwork is laid out. ITB’s would be cool, but they are not street-legal here from what I understand.
Overall, it was a fun time. A U.S. Border Patrol agent in a Charger pulled up and asked us what we were doing LOL. He did not mind and wanted to ensure we were not up to any trouble. Good day, good day.
