Oldskoolroadster, Tetsujin project.

As the project went along, it evolved from a light build, to a much more serious weekend track/autocross car. The car is now themed after a 911 GT3 "RS". This is my interpretation of the MX5 if Mazda came out with an RS model, like the MX5 R package, this would be the step up to that.

Since I've started the project way before this post. some update i'll put are past things that have been done.

Some pics of the car when i first got it. i bought the drag wheels and tires the next day i got the car. and had the muffler done. kinda didnt have a plan yet on the car and got no direction. and all i knew then was miata. net lol

the car came with tokico blues and lowering springs, bounciest set up i've ever had, and the fact i was rubbing everywhere didnt help.

i got em one of those hood lift kits, it was good for a while till i went to garage woolery and he explained how opening that area creates a stagnant airflow, so i took it off.

The Exhaust is custom, unknown brand. with custom piping, i ended up putting a small resonator to get rid of that some decibels and the fart sound (thank JDMSlick for the hook up at east side muffler. now its more low tone and livable. ( don't mind the "Bleach" stuff toy.)

Momo Monte Carlo 320, and nrg quick release was installed.

Garage Vary lip came was ordered through rspeed.net. I was so Impatient for this thing i had it shipped next day air. and installed it in the middle of summer rain. lol.

CF Hood was installed. perfect timing for my first garage woolery tech day.

At this time i was tired of looking at the back with having any bar there. so i got a fake one for the time being.

Tetsujin plans isnt for an all out racing machine. so i 've been scouting around for a competent coilover set up that wont break the bank and drivability is good in the streets and led me to this, kw coilovers, variant 1.

Out withe the tokicos. sold em for $200.00 bucks

ride height after the coilover install. In the end, it was too low. So i bumped it up a bit. i cant find the pictures where my fender got messed up when it caught a tree branch and cost me $500 bucks to fix both fenders. i had the front shaved and again JDMslick knew someone that roll fenders so i had the rears rolled.

alignment was done by vargas auto alignment. one of the Socal guys here recommended them camber -2.2 front, -2-9 rear. cant remember the rest of em. cant find the data sheet. handling is more on the neutral side.

this photo led me to buying the APR gtu wing for the car. which later on would be removed. Im prolly just use it for track day.

After 13 hours of nonstop installation (first time) all by my self. the roll bar is in! Harddog ace single diagonal with harness bar. not the most popular roll bar here. but its over the top of my head. and no future fitment issues (ie. racing seats)

Oh! and i finally found a hardtop of the right color! $900 bucks with little to no things missing.

Finally got pulled over for no front license plates. good thing he didnt hassle me for anythin else. so bought a "jdm style license plate holder" lol. since i was shopping for that might as well get some tow hooks from rennenmetal and permanent bolt down latches for the hardtop.

dont mind the naruto head band on the seat aye?

Wings came off for this, autokonexion cf ver 1 trunk. good custumer service from grinder. i rate the product a b+ not a perfect fit. but still good!

Time for a break on cosmetic changes. the first order of bussiness is the tranny upgrade. the stock is fried already.

Fidanza flywheel, exedy stage 1 clutch, rear main seal, goodridge ss clutch lines. choose synpower valvoline for gear oil and castrol gtlma synthetic clutch fluids.

man the clutch is fried metal to metal! no wonder the shudder was horrible on first gear!

got the turret oil changed, and the bushings are worn like grandma panties. so might aswell do the short shifter now.

fidanza short shift, bought the large and small boot also from good win racing. i didnt know i didnt need the small one fuck! so i have a new small boot lyin around. oh well.. you'll never know when you'll need it.

mated with a miata cage alum shifter. i guess alot of spec miata guys have this knob. oh yeah those are not anal beads ok?! took off the boot and like it. it looks more raw. it'll stay that way till i get the barchetta shorty console.

I researched about Sumitomo Group, with the tires. to my suprise they actually own Dunlop Japan and using the rubbers developed by dunlop. They also own part of Dunlop USA and partnered w/ GoodYear w/ manufacturing the tires. so Im happy to have it on my list.

Im going the light weight route on the wheels like you and JDMslick. I researched about Sumitomo Group, with the tires. to my suprise they actually own Dunlop Japan and using the rubbers developed by dunlop. They also own part of Dunlop USA and partnered w/ GoodYear w/ manufacturing the tires. so Im happy to have it on my list.
