V8 in my Tiny Miata

Well here comes the start of my V8 build, selection is a Carbureted 302 to stay away from wiring issues. Plus if you’re going to do a V8 might as well stay true to the soul. You may remember my winter wire tuck.

I started by ordering a remanufactured short block from Titan Engines (http://www.titanengines.com/) , they were really helpful did everything I wanted took the cam out even for me because I wanted a small lope. Block arrived and looks way better than any used one you will find.

My cam also came in I went with a Ford Racing E303 Cam 282/282 Duration/ .498 Lift, accompanied by Ford Racing Hydraulic Lifters, and Dual Valve Springs, Retainers, and Keepers.

Also with my summit order came in my Ford Racing Timing Chain & Gear Set (Double Roller), kind of wanted Gear Drive but the double roller is so quiet J

I called up Martin at Monster Miata and he is a really cool guy understanding that not everyone can just toss down 4k for a kit he allows you to break it up. So my headers, oil pan, and K member are on the way he works fast.

Now I’m just awaiting more parts from Summit such as my Oil Pump, Water Pump, Oil Pickup, and Crank, Alternator, and water pump pulleys.
My end plan is to have something similar but instead of Ford Racing Blue I'm doing a flat black and most likely a gray engine bay. Plus as you can see from my first picture the bay is already shaved so its just going to be that much cleaner.

Alright has been awhile since I have been on here for my thread bud I have updates for you guys. To bringg you up to speed the motor is assembled all with the help of these parts.

ARP studs from oil pan to intake manifold.

Holley 600 CFM Carb.

And then we get this..............

While I'm awaiting my trans, flywheel, and clutch assembly to show up I did more engine bay work.

Now on to the masterpiece

A close up of the paint it's a textured gray.

As you noticed it's carb'd so no wires :) So I'm cooking up my own cluster I ordered a blank backing plate and started the creation.

I'll order gauges within the next few weeks hopefully to finish up the interior.

Ok so i went to the garage today to do some serious interior overhaul. We started by dropping the rear subframe had to be done to fit the 8.8 into anyhow could use a sand blast and paint to so we will get it done while it's out. Then we dropped the gas tank to do this.

Then we ended up making this

which in turn was welded into place where i am now.

Still needs finished up hoping to have paint down by the weekend.

This is all the sheet metal we got rid of.

I cant wait to get paint down and the interior back if the clutch and trans comes in soon we will have some more pictures of the bay up with a motor. TIl next time keep leaving love guys.
