today i got some leather and some red thread and made a padded cover for my armrest to cover a couple of scuff marks. But what a difference it makes. (this is first attempt but i think i need to redo and not put so much padding in to get rid of ripple effect)

Well the armrest was redone and looks so much better on

then i finished recovering the doorcards, i felt the original red clashed with the new upholstery on the seats so i put a neutral colour between to break them up and it works.
So from this

to this

Now i have the dremmel out to adjust the chrome roof handles that are just a bit tight to get the clips on

Jobs for this week are to fit these side repeaters that ive had smoked out, ive also ordered chrome surrounds for them which will give it a subtle bit of class

and fitted these this morning when they arrived in the post, but i might order another set that say 'fiona' so that drivers side is fiona and the passenger is pitcrew. which will tie in with the mats i had made. (remember my car is a right hand drive)

Looking great! I'm usually not a fan of chrome but with this build it fits nicely. Interior looks really good.

ha ha Adam, i found a write up as to how to make them as they are really retro, so its currently sitting on the dining room waiting to get done. But they are lush.

yep the rev switches would fit really well, fiona ive got to say this but girl your blowing me away with all your ideas, the car is looking stunning and like philly said i cant wait to see the side repeaters chromed, brilliant ideas, And as for the pitcrew belt protectors, well done. Like you said its all in the detail and thats something us boys forget.

Rims im undecided as i did like the BM8's you had picked for her, but look forward to being corrected when i see the pics.

look forward to next installment.

damn, this is a quite nice project. a more classic steering wheel would really help the interior.

the wheel is being replaced with one which is showed further back in the thread, as i ordered the red one online and when it came it looked crap but was still better than the momo one that was on there.

Ive just put on the blacked out side repeaters and am now waiting on the chrome surrounds to arrive which will make it pop.

so its gone from this

to this (bearing in mind the chrome surrounds are not on yet)

American style wings (no repeater) would look cleaner than a blacked out repeater. Then again I'm not sure what the rules are in the UK regarding lighting.

As far as i know hun, we have to have the repeaters or its an mot failure so they have to stay.

Just waiting on the chrome surrounds arriving today sometime, but in the meantime im away to remove the radiator and replace it with a 50mm alloy one which will help the cooling, plus i want to check the condition of the fans as i might upgrade them depending on condition,

I like it... I am with everyone on the wheel and shift knob, but that has been beat to death.
The new wheels should look sick. Definitely in for pics. I am definitely a pit crew fan.

Nice work

Na i dont want a hardtop, 5's were built to ride topless lol, and tow hooks are on route, ive had custom leather ones made at a saddlery so just waiting on them coming.

Ive still got a lot of work to do, as got a crack appear on the dash but dont have time to fix it before the rally so have just ordered a dash cover and padded instrument pod hood which will cover it for now. And i also have an alloy rad to put in her to help the cooling, which im sure will be tested to the limit while going over the alps in the sprint races.
