Funny how that happens with car ey. Nice build so far.

If thats low budget, then mine must be free? But very nice so far. I think the wheels may not be the best choice but I like the progress.

Thanks for the comments. As for the rims, they are about 20 years old and I've had them about 10 years, they have racing heritage (from me in Japan and the US) and this car will race in the near future. It just feels right plus I don't want to be just like everyone else who buys new wheels, but never actually races the car on a track or an event. Style over substance is what I mostly see here...

After sitting through 3 hours of LA traffic on a Friday no less, I finally got what I was waiting for.. was it worth it you ask? Yes, it was...

Did this yesterday, lucky for me I have a handy electric cut off wheel that made short work of my shoddy OEM/ hacked up exhaust that was on the car when I bought it about a month ago. I then properly placed it in it's proper receptacle...

Heat shield was fun to remove due to rusted/seized bolts but PB blaster worked like a charm. The OEM header doesn't look to bad from here for being 17 years old...

Old and busted versus the new hotness...

Installing the RB header was not bad at all but just had to be careful sliding it in. Before I did that, I took off all the old stuff underneath.

This will be replacing my old busted exhaust...

Finally got everything in and torqued down. I still have not started the car yet to hear what it sounds like, maybe next weekend.

Next week the rest of the odds and ends before a shakedown track run... I need brakes!!

The stock cat was less than a month old (brand new) so I re-used it. No need for a high flow or straight pipe in my opinion due to the low stock power output.

Plus I have to stay smog legal here in Cali...

Question Heat Sheild/ Header blanket?

Now this is a question for everyone out there with a "heat shield"/ heat blanket installed. Do you recommend it versus without one for daily driving/ track driving?

The TDR header blanket looks very promising and is fairly well priced.

I really don't want to wrap another header.

If you're good at DYI you could fab up a heat shield that looks like this. If you're still rocking the stock airbox you could wrap it in high temp baking foil (Reynolds for example). Stormin'normin did it on his car and noticed a decent decrease in airbox temps.

Plus these are not OTS spring rates...

What spring rates did you end up going with, and how do you like them? I just got a good deal on some yellows and want to get the most out of them so I'm looking for input.

Thanks for the great idea! I do have some aluminum sheeting left over from a previous project and that DIY heat shield looks easy enough to make.

I will be installing the RB air intake system this coming weekend but I have plans for a cold air inlet afterwards via those naca duct headlight covers. If i ever get around to it!

I don't have my data sheet in front of me at the moment that shows the exact spring rates, but I think I got 440 for the fronts and 350's or 375's for the rears. These might seem high but I have a future purpose for this car as a decent track vehicle with some daily driving to the track and back!

As for ride comfort, it is firm but an excellent ride in my opinion. Now I maybe biased since I have lowered every car I have owned since 1995 except one which was my S2000.

HAHA, well not all of it is Racing Beat! I have a "Beat Rush" panel!

I just can't say enough good things about the customer service at RB, they sold me on that. Plus the prices are very decent for the products that you get with the R&D thrown in through racing and track time.

I've been meaning to address the rust. From what I have seen, it's just surface rust. I have been thinking about POR 15 for it.

Any suggestions?

Default finally... rollbar..

Finally put the Hard Dog roll bar in, took about six hours by myself but it was an interesting install. I think this one is the M2 version, just have to install padding and I should be done for this week.

I think my Civic is getting jealous from all the attention the "new car" is getting....
