hey guys, been out of town for the last week and finally got to work on it again.
took me most of the day today figuring out how to wire in the stock TPS correctly.

once i sorted that mess out, the fuel pump stopped priming and ecu lost power.

so i check main relay and it's good. fuel pump relay is good.
engine fuse inside the cabin is good as well as room fuse.

MS is fine, it loads up find when i stim power and plug it into my lap top.

need to see if theres a break in a line some where in the harness.
fuck this part. FUCK ELECTRICAL SHITTTTTT.

Why run stock TPS? It's worthless. Just use MAP based accel enrichment or go get yourself a BMW TPS.

He can't run the stock TPS, it would enter flood clear mode and dump fuel in if he ever touched throttle with the MS powered on. Ask me how I know. I'm assuming he meant an auto TPS or some other later 4 wire TPS.

If you took all day to figure out the TPS, are you sure the battery isn't dead? Are you using a multi meter for all of this?

If it's the stock 3 wire TPS from a 1.6 manual transmission engine, no, there's no way to run it. It's not variable, it has 3 positions: closed, partial throttle, and WOT. MS can't do anything with that.

A Variable TPS or VTPS reads 0-100%, and we use a TPS out of an automatic, later model miata, or BMW.

so what you're saying is, since i wired the ms to run stock 1.6 tps and floored it to calibrate tps on the ms, it entered clear flood mode and that's why my fuel pump is not priming?

Flood clear, yes. But it should still prime every time you cycle it on, flood clear deals with the injectors, not the pump. If you have a 1.6 TPS, just leave it unplugged and use mapdot

Thanks curly, gonna check my ground wires by the ppf. I recall hearing a pop sound now.

Did some research and came up with some what I think is good info.

90-93 auto tranny tps will work. Any 94-97 tps will work. Getting the tps from eBay will be okay, getting the pig tail might be tough.

Phung018 there was a guy on MT.net for sale section selling (5) BMW TPS's. He said he could make a custom pigtail for 1.6 for an extra $15. So a total of $50 shipped I think the price was. Not sure if they're still there though.

Yeah, hotwheels. He has a friend that parts out BMWs and gets batches of them every so often. Plus then you can say you practically drive a BMW.

Ok so, battery is good.
Going to jump GND to FP to see if I can get the fuel pump to prime.
Funny thing happening though, when the stock ecu is plugged in and i turn the key to acc CEL turns on as it should.
When i plug the MS in i get no CEL on acc.

MS still won't power up.

Plugged the stock ECU in to see if it gets power and it powered up.
Jumped the FP and GND pins to get the pump to prime and it did.

Started the car just to see, and it turned over. Didn't stay on cause AFM is not connected.

Checked MS to see if i wired the fuel pump circuit correctly and it looks like I did.
FUEL PUMP to In of input 1 and output 1 to 1C.

So if the stock ECU is getting power why won't MS get power??

Is this the mspnp or a DIY mS? How do you know it's not getting power, the LEDs aren't lighting up or it's not connecting?

Try "detect ecu" in TS, it's probably not com 1.

When I stim power outside of the car, it's COM 1.
When I plug it into the car and hit detect ecu it says no controller found.

Try turning it on before plugging it into the computer and vise versa. It's sensitive to the power up routine.

I think the order is: plug into to laptop-turn on ms-open TS. Or something like that. Mine always seems to change as to what I want. Or I forget the order all the time.

Still no worky. I really appreciate the help Curly.
I wonder if the solder on the 12 volt power pin on the connector board broke.

If it powers up with the stim, it's working fine, the stim Simulates the car's power harness. So that's weird.
