Default 1984 Kawasaki KH125 Restoration

Hey guys,

I bought a new (used) bike recently with the intention of rebuilding it.

I used to own a 1982 Suzuki TS125 trail bike but it was so unreliable we sold it on. Here is my new bike and what I have so far done to it.

When I first got the bike.

Yeah........ I didn;t buy it for the paint job

Now for the transformation pics,

Badges off

POR 15 used on the bottom of the tank

Primed

Top coat of Ford Diamond white

Nail varnish remover used on the fuel lid and tank badges

Side panels complete

New handle bars

New L plate board

Just before dinner tonight I put the bike back together for the Real Classic bike show tomorrow.

I'm going to be buying some new rear shocks for the bike in chrome as well as a decent used exhaust, as the one on the bike is too loud really. I love the Roadster being loud, but not an 11bhp 125cc bike.

Info can be found on my blog too,

L plate is probably "learner" symbol!? At least thats what it means here in Norway.

Yeah the L plate is a requirement for all learning riders.

I was tempted to go all out boso, I had a look at the fairings that Trap make, but then I thought that 99.9% of English people wouldn't have a clue what I was doing and I'd get mocked for having a fairing pointing up towards the sky.

Nice job cleaning it up and making it look respectable. White looks so clean and JDM. 2-strokes rule.

Cheers for the comments chaps. Still a bit of work to do. Its a damn sight cheaper that tuning the Roadster!

My dad has a mint RD250, sadly its not white as I think I'd steal it off him if it were.

This is my hero OEM bike. If I had an RD350 I wouldn't touch it with aftermarket parts. Its how I view the 3 door Sierra Cosworth as well,

Well yesterday had its up and downs. I went to visit a mate at uni and had a night out. She sorted the night so that it would consist of drinking and metal. The next day I got up feeling great with no hangover and I got a phonecall from my dad asking if I wanted to go for a bike ride. So I went home and got my gear together. We went to some villages and took some pics,

On the way home I thought I'd lead so I went passed my dad doing a steady 55- 60 mph. Around 7 miles from home there was an almighty scream and two large bangs. The bike cut out and coasted to a stop. My initial reaction was 'shit'. We hid the bike in some bushes and I got a lift home on the back of my dads bike. I went to meet the tow truck later when they were ready to get my bike. When I got it back fuel had leaked onto the new paint on the tank. So now that is fucked as it reacted with it. We started taking the bike to bits to find this,

To make things worse, there is now pieces of piston around the crank, so at BDC is jams solid. So I need to strip it down and clean that up. I'll need an oversized piston and a rebore.

Still it could be worse. Air cooled single 2 strokes as probably the easiest engine ever to work on.

More pics and info can be found on my blog: http://drivingspecna.blogspot.com/
