I was thinking S50 or 52 from the E36 M3. it would have to be the motor set, trans and all because I wouldnt want the miata trans with that motor.

Has anyone even thought about this? I've always had a thought that a true roadster was six cylinders up front and five speeds below.

Any information on this would be great. I know the motors themselves are quite pricey, but having mounts made wouldnt be too bad, and I think if you kept the motor relatively stock it would be fun at it's 240 hp and would still allow the use of a 1.8 torsen. I feel like this would be a great swap for the chassis.

Hey guys! Finally decided to start a build thread for my car. It’s not anything very exciting but I wanted somewhere I can track the progress, and since I never drive my car back home I wanted to be able and show them my car. I am going to start from the beginning to give you guys a little bit of a background on the car. I purchased the car October 2010. It is a 1991 base model car, so base it did not even come with air conditioning. I named her La Poderosa. Paid $2400 for it, it needed a new top, other than that it was flawless and completely stock. Later upon further examination I found that it was repainted and a few months later after the paint started to chip I realized it had been in a wreck. Still, I was in love with the car and kept building on it anyway.

First thing I fixed was the rear window. Since the top was in decent shape I found a shop that would replace the rear window. Next up were the Kosei’s, I bought the K1’s and wrapped them in Kumho Ectas XS’s. After the wheels I did a ton of maintenance on the car. Motor mounts, shift boots, slave and master cylinders, all the fluids, plugs and wires, timing belt and all the gaskets. Then later I bought some lowering springs, and I drove it around like that for a long time.

I started to track the car in Albuquerque, but at the time I was still too broke to be spending money on my car. I was in trade school still and spending all my free time with the girl that would later be my fiancé and soon to be my wife. So, I messed around with the alignment a lot and bought some cheap ebay crap like an exhaust (which isn’t so bad, I still use it), and a header. I splurged a little be after a slightly bigger paycheck one week and bought a Touge Run front lip, and a roll bar the non-hardtop hard dog.

During this time I had been doing a shadow program that went way longer than the two weeks required at a spec Miata shop called the Miata Specialists in Albuquerque. I was there for a few months, just taking in and learning whatever I could. I got paid nothing but the knowledge ended up being worth more than anything they could have paid me. I finished school in January 2011, and while I was surfing through Club Roadster one night I noticed Track Dog was looking for a tech, so I applied. We talked back and forth for a while, finally I drove out to Texas to meet with them and in February I started working there. Thank god, because if I didn’t land that job I would still be stuck in Albuquerque working on fords all day. Not that there is anything wrong with that, it’s just not for me.

First thing I did when arriving in Texas was install an A/C system. The humidity and heat here is insane. The year before had went over 70 days with temps above 100 degrees. So I scavenged the parts from wherever I could. From part outs, customers who didn’t want their A/C and parts laying around the shop. So my Franken a/c goes like this. All the hoses are from a 94, the compressor is off a 97, and the rest of the parts I got from a 92. Then I went out and bought a new dryer and expansion valve, some R134 and all of the gaskets. With the parts I bought and the compressor I spent a total of $150. Now I have nice ice cold A/C!

Fast forward a bunch of parts this is the car now. I have not made too much progress since I have been saving for my wedding, but some progress has been made.

The engine is still a stock 1.6l, I removed the ebay header and put on a stock one. We made an intake for it and I run a high flow cat. Same ebay exhaust.
Koyo Rad
Koyo heater hoses
I want to get started on this build this weekend but we’ll see. I have to lend a hand with the lemons race car. But on the next update I’ll be installing an either the dash or an innovate wide band. Not sure yet.

It has been almost one year since I took ownership of my current daily driver. Time to start making it my own.

Platform: 1990 NA Miata. All original. Purchased with 47,xxx on the odometer. Silver with Black interior. Base model with power steering and a/c.

Items that have failed since purchase:
Soft top plastic rear window
Clutch slave cylinder
Clutch master cylinder
D/S rear caliper (frozen)
Both accessory belts
OEM radiator
PAINT!

This MX-5 has had two owners. The second managed to put 300 miles on the car in the last 3 years, so I was able to get it for a pretty good deal.

The hardtop was my first optional purchase. Since this is my DD, I found Dunlop snow tires for CHEAP to get me back and forth to work.

Quick shot of the interior and gauges.

The interior will be the first thing to go. If anyone is interested PM or message me at your convience. The interior is MINT including the steering wheel and carpet. The passenger side seat headrest is torn in the rear and the tombstone decided to crumble into millions of itty bitty fragments when I attempted to use the hazards one day. Other than that, there is no evidence of the carpets, dash, or seats ever being removed.

The updates will start tomorrow morning.

Here is my last project....

Sorta last minute and i found out my cr account is still alive and I'm coming down to HOODRAT/RICER THINGS WITH MY FRIENDS for the weekend. Just so happens the top grossing ricer movie of the year is out this weekend too.

plans are to meet here:

Krispy Kreme
1548 Azusa Ave.
City of Industry, CA 91748 US
Phone: 626-964-5044

My goals are to:
1.) Meet up at KINOD and catch up with socal people
2.) eat dinner
3.) catch the movie at AMC 20 in the same plaza.

there are too many ricers in city of industry so there is a slight chance it may get sold out...

The showtimes are either at 6pm or 9:30pm and i'd love to do a Voltron Cardboard tech day beforehand. I would rather not do the 12:35am showing bc I'm retreating for the night and get ready for ricer driving event at Balcony the next day.

There is a good chances that showing might get sold out due to the mass amount of ricers so it is a good idea to order the tickets online.

link
http://www.amctheatres.com/movie-the...uente-hills-20

its going to be $12 dollars for adults... and $X dollars for students.

my current injector dead time is 1ms. I have found very little information on what does stock injector settings should be despite searching all day and all last night.

I have seen some people suggest anywhere from .8 to1.2. What do you guys suggest?

Bad CAS o-ring causing CEL?

I'm 99.9% sure the Cam Angle Sensor o-ring on my '95 needs replacing. There is a decent amount of oil around that area, but it's not losing a lot of oil and I just haven't gotten around to doing it yet. My new issue is that the car is now throwing a CEL for OBD I code 17 (heated oxygen sensor - inversion). I noticed that some of the oil that is coming out by the CAS is landing down on the O2 sensor wire and making its way all the way down to the O2 sensor itself.

The CEL only comes on once the engine is hot (about 15-20 minutes of driving). Is it possible the sensor has gone bad from the leaking oil? Or if I replace the o-ring and clean up all the previously leaked oil, would it be possible to save the O2 sensor? I don't really want to throw $150 at a new O2 sensor right now :(.

Has anyone had the o-ring issue trigger this code before?

Hey gang,

I've got proper roll cage tubing, 1-3/4" OD, .134 wall DOM tubing. I need help bending this stuff for my cage and I don't have the correct tools or experience doing this so i'm hoping someone on here can help.

I don't need anything welded or notched, just need the tubing bent up for what i'm looking for.

Next problem is that my car can't move for now, so whoever bends the tubing needs to have a miata close by to use for mockup and dimensions as they bend.

I know how I want the bends done and aside from the tubing, I have all the mounting plates done as well.

Anyone in the Miami/South Florida area that can help with project?

thanks
Alex

Hello, new member! I've been searching around, can't find an answer anywhere and it's driving me crazy.

I'm looking to put a real oil pressure sender in my 95 but I don't know if I must buy the gauge from a 89-94 as well. Is the idiot gauge only that way because of the lack of a proper sender or is it because of both the gauge and sender?

I bought new gauge faces from revlimiter, which includes the numbers for the oil gauge already.

From what I could find, the miata.net garage says I do need the replacement gauge because the idiot one doesn't work with the real sender (only two possible positions for the needle), yet Good-win-racing and Track Dog Racing both sell a kit that just uses the idiot gauge.
