Yeah, talk about heat cycling your tires. Wonder if you have to let the spare cool down before you can handle it.

Welcome to hell. Here is your 1982 Subaru Brat.

those seats in the back of the brat... exactly the type of thing i've been thinking about to convert a miata into an all-weather no-top no-doors type of thing.

Forget balance. All that heat from the engine will cook the tire in short order, making it dangerous to use even if full tread depth remains.

At least from watching an old episode of Top Gear, the Brat's not the only one rocking a spare over the engine:

Maserati Merak SS Spare

Got to fully experience this yesterday, well as much as driving next to it on the express way. Smell of the exhaust roar of the engine as he cut through traffic. Biggest car boner of my life:

200 ever made, formerly illegal to drive in the US>

* 0-60: 3.6 s
* 0-100: 8.3 s
* 0-125: 12.7 s
* 0-140: 19.0 s
* 0-1/4 mile (~400 m): 11.8 s @ 119 mph (192 km/h) (standing)
* Top Speed: + 197 mph (317 km/h)
